Job Overview: The Logistic Coordinator plays a crucial role in steering the logistical activities of the mission to ensure that Solidarités International's in-country programs run smoothly. This position involves implementing the organization's mission procedures and logistical tools, ensuring their proper use and adherence. The Logistic Coordinator participates in defining the mission strategy, drawing up projects, and assessing the resources needed for the organization's activities. Additionally, the role supports the Head of Mission in operational security management and serves as the primary point of reference for all logistics-related matters between the mission and headquarters. The position requires a hands-on approach to support the logistics team, particularly in the complex context of Gaza, where international transport and coordination with various authorities are vital. The Logistic Coordinator must also develop international transport routes and handle significant administrative work to obtain necessary approvals for material imports, all while adapting procurement procedures to meet emergency needs.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Logistic Coordinator is responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to: steering the logistical activities of the mission, implementing and ensuring adherence to Solidarités International's mission procedures and logistical tools, participating in the definition of the mission strategy, drawing up project plans, assessing resource needs, supporting operational security management, and serving as the liaison between headquarters and the mission for logistics matters. The role also involves developing international transport routes, coordinating with customs and transport companies, managing procurement processes, and adapting logistics procedures to the rapidly changing environment in Gaza. The Logistic Coordinator must provide hands-on support to the logistics team, reinforce team efficiency, and independently carry out logistics work while coordinating with the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director and teams in Paris and Amman for material provision.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in logistics, transport, warehousing, IT, supply chain, or management. Additionally, they should have a solid understanding of logistics procedures, including Solidarités International's rules, tools, and procedures. Proven ability to develop, implement, and support adequate logistics systems is essential, including skills in planning, managing procurement, fleet stock, and asset management. Candidates should also demonstrate strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to assess challenges in a context where supply opportunities are limited and operational logistics require adaptation to remain efficient. Recommendations for solutions tailored to the specific context of Gaza are also expected.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in logistics, transport, warehousing, IT, supply chain, or management is required for this position. This educational background provides the foundational knowledge necessary for understanding and managing complex logistics systems and procedures effectively.
Experience: Candidates should have relevant experience in logistics management, particularly in humanitarian or emergency contexts. Experience in developing and implementing logistics systems, managing procurement processes, and coordinating with various stakeholders is essential. Familiarity with the specific challenges of operating in Gaza and the West Bank is highly desirable, as is the ability to work independently and adapt to rapidly changing environments.
Languages: English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and with international partners. Additional Notes: The position is based in Jerusalem, with operations extending to Gaza and the West Bank. The organization has an office in Cheikh Jarrah, shared with ACTED, and a fully equipped guest house in Shuafat. Staff safety is generally assured in Jerusalem, with freedom of movement in most areas, although caution is advised in certain neighborhoods and during nighttime. The mission faces significant security and access challenges in Gaza and occasional exposure to violence in the West Bank. The role requires a proactive and independent approach to logistics management, with a focus on adapting to the unique challenges of the operational environment.
