Job Overview:
The Movement Control Assistant position is situated within the Movement Control Unit under the Supply Chain Management Unit of UNTSO in Jerusalem. The role is crucial for ensuring the efficient movement of cargo and personnel associated with UN missions. The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating the logistics of inbound and outbound cargo, which includes air, sea, road, and rail transport. This position requires meticulous attention to detail in preparing cargo manifests, customs documentation, and ensuring compliance with international regulations regarding the handling of cargo, including dangerous goods. The Movement Control Assistant will also assist in managing passenger movements on UN aircraft and commercial charters, ensuring that all customs and immigration processes are adhered to. The role demands a proactive approach to maintaining accurate records, conducting inspections, and managing inventory within the warehouse environment. The incumbent will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure that all logistical operations run smoothly and efficiently, contributing to the overall success of UN missions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Movement Control Assistant will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to: assisting in the arrangement of cargo movements via all transport modes, monitoring delivery schedules, and communicating shipping details to relevant parties. The incumbent will complete cargo manifests and prepare necessary customs clearance documentation. They will ensure that all cargo is packed and handled according to international regulations, particularly for dangerous goods. The role also involves preparing and processing attendance records, supply requests, and other documentation as required. The Movement Control Assistant will provide physical support during loading and unloading operations, assist in the inspection and storage of incoming items, and ensure that all items are properly labeled and organized. Regular stock taking and monitoring of supplies in the warehouse will be part of the duties, along with maintaining cleanliness and organization within the storage facilities. The incumbent will operate material handling equipment and assist in administrative arrangements for staff travel. The role requires physical capability to lift and carry materials, and the incumbent must adhere to safety protocols while working in the warehouse environment.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Additional technical or vocational qualifications in logistics, warehousing, or transportation are highly desirable. A valid driver's license (types B and C1) for Israel is required, and candidates must be qualified to operate light and medium vehicles, including mechanical handling equipment. Technical qualifications in logistics and transportation will enhance a candidate's suitability for this role.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position is a high school diploma or equivalent. Candidates with additional technical or vocational training in logistics, warehousing, or transportation will be viewed favorably. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of movement operations and supply chain management.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in movement operations, which can be gained through commercial air, sea, road, or rail operations, freight forwarding, warehousing, or supply chain management. Experience in military logistics or civilian logistics environments is also relevant. Desirable experience includes working with national or customs authorities and within international organizations such as the United Nations. Proficiency in using computers and office software, as well as inventory control systems, is required. Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, such as Umoja or SAP, is also necessary, along with at least two years of experience operating material handling equipment.

Languages:
For this position, proficiency in English is mandatory, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations. Additionally, knowledge of Hebrew and Arabic is required. The position necessitates a strong command of these languages to effectively communicate and perform duties related to logistics and movement operations.
