Job Posting Organization:
The United Nations Truce Supervision Organization (UNTSO) was established on 29 May 1948, following the United Nations security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Council resolution 50 (1948), which called for a cessation of hostilities in Palestine. UNTSO is tasked with observing and maintaining ceasefires and assisting the parties involved in the 1949 Armistice Agreements. The organization operates in five countries: Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, and the Syrian Arab Republic. UNTSO plays a crucial role in peacekeeping and conflict resolution in the region, employing a diverse workforce dedicated to upholding international peace and security.

Job Overview:
The Movement Control Assistant position is located within the Movement Control Unit under the Supply Chain Management Unit of UNTSO in Jerusalem. The incumbent will report directly to the Supply Officer of the Centralized Warehouse Unit. This role involves a variety of responsibilities related to the logistics and movement of cargo and personnel, ensuring compliance with international regulations and the efficient operation of supply chain processes. The incumbent will assist in the coordination of inbound and outbound cargo, manage customs documentation, and ensure that all items are handled and stored correctly. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Movement Control Assistant will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to: arranging the movement of cargo via air, sea, road, and rail; monitoring delivery schedules and communicating shipping details; preparing cargo manifests and customs documentation; ensuring compliance with international packing and handling regulations; assisting with passenger movement on UN aircraft; maintaining attendance records and supply requests; providing physical support during loading and unloading; conducting inspections and inventory counts; verifying requisitions against monthly requirements; monitoring stock levels and conducting regular stock takes; maintaining cleanliness and organization in the warehouse; operating material handling equipment; processing administrative arrangements for staff travel; and maintaining unit files and documentation. The role may also involve physical tasks such as lifting and moving materials, and the incumbent must be prepared to work in a warehouse environment with moderate hazards.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Additional technical or vocational qualifications in logistics, warehousing, or transportation are desirable. A valid driver’s license (type B and C1 for Israel) is required, and the incumbent must be qualified to operate light and medium vehicles, as well as mechanical handling equipment. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of logistics and supply chain management principles, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Educational Background:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position. Additional qualifications in logistics, warehousing, or transportation are considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's application.

Experience:
Candidates must have at least three years of progressively responsible experience in movement operations, which can include commercial air, sea, road, or rail operations, freight forwarding, warehousing, supply chain management, or military logistics. Experience working with national or customs authorities is desirable, as is experience in an international organization such as the United Nations. Proficiency in using computers and office software, as well as inventory control systems, is also required. Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, such as Umoja or SAP, is essential, and two years of experience operating material handling equipment is preferred.

Languages:
For this position, proficiency in English is required, with a minimum UN Level II in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Additionally, proficiency in Hebrew and Arabic is also required at the same level. The ability to communicate effectively in these languages is crucial for successful collaboration within the UN environment and with local authorities.

This position is subject to local recruitment, meaning that applicants must be authorized to work in Israel. Candidates selected from outside the duty station will be responsible for their relocation expenses.
