Job Overview:
The logistics-manager" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Logistics Manager position at NRC Chad is a critical role aimed at establishing a robust and reliable logistics department to support the implementation of projects aligned with the country strategy. The successful candidate will ensure timely provision of logistical support services to all NRC projects, assist in budget preparation and management, and develop official documentation on logistics policies in accordance with NRC Global procedures. The role also involves training and mentoring newly recruited senior logistics staff across various Area Offices (AOs), conducting market analysis to inform project modality decisions, and establishing key performance indicators for logistics activities. The Logistics Manager will work closely with logistics and program managers to ensure effective communication, coordination, and planning, contributing directly to design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design and budget development. Regular audits and compliance checks will be conducted to ensure adherence to the logistics manual, thereby enhancing the overall efficiency of operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure timely logistical support services are provided to all NRC projects.
  • Assist in the preparation of the logistics budget and manage allocated budget lines.
  • Develop official logistics policy documentation in line with NRC Global procedures.
  • Support and develop relevant training for logistics staff, including mentoring newly recruited senior logistics personnel across all Area Offices.
  • Supervise and coordinate market analysis by logistics staff to support project modality decisions, assessing market functionality and accessibility for target populations.
  • Establish key performance indicators for all logistics activities and regularly review them against actual performance.
  • Maintain close communication, coordination, and planning with all logistics and program managers across NRC's Area Offices.
  • Contribute directly to program and project design, including budget development.
  • Conduct audits and compliance checks at Area Offices to ensure adherence to the logistics manual.

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a senior Logistics Manager in an international humanitarian context.
  • Proven experience working in complex and volatile environments.
  • Demonstrated results related to the responsibilities of the position.
  • Strong understanding of personal competencies and leadership profile.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Knowledge of the Eastern Chad context is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge and expertise in logistics. 1
  • Experience in data collection, analysis, and report writing. 1
  • Familiarity with market analysis tools and approaches. 1
  • Skills and knowledge in assessments, analyses, and cash-based interventions.

Educational Background:
A relevant educational background is required, typically in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field. Candidates should possess a degree that supports their understanding of logistics operations and humanitarian assistance.

Experience:
Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in logistics management within humanitarian settings. Experience in complex and volatile contexts is essential, as is a proven track record of successfully managing logistics operations and contributing to program design and implementation.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Arabic is considered an asset, enhancing communication and operational effectiveness in the local context.

Additional Notes:
The position is based in N'Djamena, Chad, with a contract duration of 12 months, subject to renewal based on performance and funding availability. The role may require travel up to 20% of the time. The salary is classified as Grade 9 according to NRC's salary scale, with corresponding contractual conditions.
