Job Overview:
The position of Junior Berater*in within the Global Project 'Klinikpartnerschaften - Partner stärken Gesundheit' involves supporting the improvement of health services in low- and middle-income countries. This role is crucial in providing financial and technical assistance for international hospital partnerships, contributing to enhanced healthcare delivery and well-being in the targeted regions. The successful candidate will engage in various activities, including facilitating partnerships, conducting workshops, and representing the program at events. The position requires a proactive approach to identifying and scaling successful partnerships, ensuring that they are relevant to the local health contexts. The role also involves regular travel to partner countries and within Germany to strengthen networks and collaboration among stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Junior Berater*in will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Provide technical support for hospital partnerships, including specific tasks in crisis contexts such as Syria and Ukraine.
  • Act as the point of contact for selected partner countries and their respective organizations.
  • Identify and support the scaling of selected hospital partnerships that are particularly relevant to their national or regional health contexts.
  • Conduct regular travel to Germany and partner countries to enhance networking among hospital partnerships and relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist in the conceptual planning and execution of workshops, networking events, and other activities both domestically and in partner countries.
  • Respond to inquiries from political institutions regarding the funding program and ongoing hospital partnerships.
  • Represent the hospital partnerships funding program at various events.
  • Implement cross-cutting tasks such as monitoring, reporting, and knowledge management.
  • Support hospital partnerships with administrative inquiries. 1
  • Contribute to the conceptual and strategic development of the hospital partnerships instrument in light of global health challenges.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must possess the following qualifications:
  • A completed university degree in human medicine with initial clinical experience preferred, or a degree in health sciences such as Public Health/Global Health, nursing sciences, or a comparable field with clinical relevance.
  • Initial professional and international experience in projects related to patient-centered healthcare, possibly in crisis contexts (Syria, Ukraine).
  • Knowledge of the German healthcare system and healthcare systems in countries of the Global South.
  • Excellent organizational, moderation, presentation, and communication skills, with a strong affinity for international cooperation and networking in the health sector.
  • High team spirit, the ability to quickly grasp complex issues, maintain a sense of priorities in challenging situations, and demonstrate agility and adaptability.
  • Willingness to travel, including to fragile contexts.
  • Fluent German and/or English language skills, both written and spoken, along with very good knowledge of a third language.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have a completed higher education degree in human medicine or a related field such as health sciences, with a preference for those with clinical experience. Degrees in Public Health, Global Health, or nursing sciences are also acceptable, provided they have a clinical focus or comparable relevance.

Experience:
The position requires initial professional experience, particularly in international cooperation projects related to patient-centered healthcare. Experience in crisis contexts, such as Syria or Ukraine, is advantageous. Candidates should also have some familiarity with advising political partners on strengthening health systems.

Languages:
Fluent proficiency in German and/or English is mandatory, both in written and spoken forms. Additionally, candidates should possess very good knowledge of a third language, with Arabic or French being particularly desirable.

Additional Notes:
The position is suitable for full-time or part-time employment. Regular business travel is expected, and there is a strong organizational interest in staff readiness for assignments at all GIZ locations, both domestically and internationally.
