Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is part of the global project 'Sustainability and Value Creation in Agricultural Supply Chains', which is a component of the special initiative 'Transformation of Agricultural and Food Systems' (SI AGER). This project promotes sustainability in selected agricultural supply chains, including cotton, bananas, coffee, cocoa, natural rubber, palm oil, and soy, which are vital for rural development in many developing and emerging countries. Agricultural supply chains are essential for the livelihoods of hundreds of millions of smallholder farmers. The project focuses on collaboration with market-dominating actors at the global level to achieve international development goals. The internship will involve supporting the coordination of the project in Germany, ensuring direct contact with clients and partners, and working closely with globally operating companies to implement and anchor newly developed sustainability concepts in selected agricultural supply chains.
Duties and Responsibilities: The central responsibilities of the internship include supporting the coordination unit in Germany with the following tasks: assisting in the day-to-day operations of the global project, providing organizational and technical support, aiding the monitoring and evaluation team particularly in project monitoring and evaluation, analyzing data, and documenting results. Additionally, the intern will assist in reporting to the client, creating communication products, and participating in events representing the project.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should be in an advanced (or completed) degree program (or have graduated no longer than 6 months ago) in fields such as agricultural sciences, economics (both micro and macro), communication/political/social sciences, geography, or other relevant disciplines. Experience in monitoring and evaluation, as well as communication and public relations, gained through internships or training, is essential. Candidates should enjoy data analysis and creating impactful presentations, have a flair for editing and proofreading texts, and possess a clear and comprehensible writing style. Proficiency in common data processing programs and MS Office is required, along with knowledge or a strong interest in corporate social responsibility, sustainability, agricultural supply chains, and sustainableagriculture.
Educational Background: A relevant educational background is crucial for this position, with candidates expected to be enrolled in or have recently completed a degree in areas related to agriculture, economics, social sciences, or similar fields. The internship is only available to those who are currently enrolled in a program that requires an internship or have graduated within the last six months.
Experience: Candidates should have some practical experience, preferably through internships or work experience in a developing or emerging country, particularly in areas related to monitoring and evaluation or communication. This experience will be beneficial in applying theoretical knowledge in a practical context and understanding the challenges faced in international cooperation.
Languages: Fluent German is mandatory, and good English skills (both written and spoken) are required. Knowledge of French and Spanish is considered an advantage, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate in diverse environments and with various stakeholders.
