Job Overview:
The position of Praktikant*in im Finanz- und Projektmanagement is focused on supporting the project team in Berlin, particularly in administrative and financial matters related to the implementation of the project "Promotion of Research Networks for Health Innovations in Sub-Saharan Africa." This initiative is backed by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), which invests in combating neglected and poverty-associated diseases in countries involved in German development cooperation. The intern will gain valuable insights into development policy contexts and learn how GIZ operates as an executing organization for public clients. The role involves close collaboration with the project team and offers opportunities to contribute new ideas as an integral part of the team.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will assist the project team primarily with administrative and financial tasks during the project implementation. Responsibilities include: reviewing fund usage reports and documentation, communicating with recipients regarding reporting obligations and feedback, maintaining financial management overviews as a basis for project controlling, supporting ongoing capacity building for recipients, assisting in project management tasks such as presentations, communication, and filing, and helping the team with general administrative duties, such as taking minutes during team meetings. This role is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the project’s financial and administrative processes.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should be enrolled in a degree program in economics, law, social sciences, or public administration, or a comparable field, ideally in an advanced semester. Knowledge of budget law and/or experience in public administration is preferred. A strong affinity for working with numbers and calculations is essential, along with excellent practical knowledge of MS Office 365 applications, particularly MS Excel and MS PowerPoint. Candidates must possess very good verbal and written communication skills in both German and English, while knowledge of French is considered an advantage. Teamwork, quick comprehension, flexibility, and organized, careful work habits are also important attributes for this role.

Educational Background:
The position requires candidates to be currently enrolled in a university program or in a training program that includes an internship as an integral part. Alternatively, candidates who have graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship are also eligible to apply.

Experience:
While specific prior experience is not mandatory, any background in public administration or financial management will be beneficial. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt quickly to the project’s requirements and the organizational environment.

Languages:
Fluency in German and English, both spoken and written, is mandatory. Knowledge of French is advantageous and will enhance the candidate's profile.
