Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is part of the Global Project on Pandemic Resilience, One Health (GV PROH), commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The project aims to strengthen prevention and response capacities at national, regional, and global levels. It promotes the One Health approach in international cooperation, which seeks to sustainably preserve and improve the health of humans, animals, and the environment while identifying health risks early. The internship will involve supporting the Female Genital Schistosomiasis (FGS) Initiative, which focuses on building global alliances and raising awareness about FGS, currently implemented in Malawi. Interns will be expected to contribute to various tasks that enhance the project's outreach and effectiveness.
Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will have a range of responsibilities, including supporting the global partnership and progress team of the FGS Initiative, collaborating with multilateral and regional partners such as Africa CDC, EAC, and WHO. They will actively participate in internal working groups and processes, assist in the preparation of internal and external meetings and events, and create concise, understandable texts, press releases, and social media posts to support the project's public relations efforts. Additionally, interns will conduct research and analysis on current issues related to the prevention and control of infectious diseases and the One Health approach, contribute to the development of relevant internal and external communication products, and assist in knowledge management documentation for the program.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be students in their fifth semester or higher, preferably in health sciences, medicine, veterinary medicine, social sciences, media studies, or other relevant fields. A strong interest and ideally some experience in communication and public relations are essential for candidates from health, social, or environmental sciences. Knowledge of global health or environmental policy, as well as familiarity with international processes and agreements, is desirable. A cooperative working style and excellent verbal and written communication skills in both German and English are required, while additional knowledge of French and Spanish is advantageous. Candidates should be goal-oriented, capable of working independently, and able to translate objectives into concrete tasks.
Educational Background: The position requires candidates to be enrolled in a university program, specifically in their fifth semester or higher. Relevant fields of study include health sciences, medicine, veterinary medicine, social sciences, and media studies, among others that relate to the program's focus.
Experience: Interns should ideally have some practical experience in international cooperation or humanitarian aid. Familiarity with global health or environmental policy and its stakeholders is also beneficial, as it will enhance the intern's ability to contribute effectively to the project.
Languages: Proficiency in German and English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of additional languages such as French and Spanish is considered a plus, as it may facilitate communication with a broader range of stakeholders and partners.

Interns must be currently enrolled in a program that requires an internship or have graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship.
