Job Overview: The position of Praktikant*in in the Skills4Abroad program involves supporting the Media and Information Center of the Academy (MIA) and the Learning Location Campus Kottenforst. This program, commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), provides diverse digital and analog learning opportunities for professionals in German development cooperation before and during their assignments abroad. The intern will play a crucial role in assisting with the daily operations of the library, contributing to the development of communication strategies, and supporting the library's digital transformation. The intern will also help enhance the Campus Kottenforst as a sustainable learning environment and participate in organizing various internal and external events.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for supporting the daily operations of the library at Campus Kottenforst, which includes tasks such as literature research, acquisition, inventory management, and cataloging of media. Additionally, the intern will assist in developing and implementing a communication concept for the library's offerings and services. They will also contribute to the further development of the collection concept, focusing on acquisition strategies, diversity of collections, decolonization, and information ethics. The intern will support the library's digital transformation efforts and help in enhancing the Campus Kottenforst as a sustainable learning location. Furthermore, the intern will be involved in the conception and organization of internal and external events and collaborate on cross-cutting themes and team activities.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should be studying in the field of information sciences with a focus on library science or social sciences, communication sciences, adult education, educational sciences, digital learning, or related fields. A strong interest and knowledge in international cooperation, ideally with experience abroad, is essential. Experience in learning and didactics, library or information management is also required. The ideal candidate should possess a high level of digital competence, particularly in digital communication and collaboration, along with excellent proficiency in digital tools. Teamwork, initiative, reliability, strong communication skills, organizational abilities, and creativity are key attributes expected from the candidate. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a high level of diversity competence and experience in gender mainstreaming, as well as fluent knowledge of both German and English.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this internship includes being currently enrolled in a relevant degree program, such as information sciences, library science, social sciences, communication sciences, or similar fields. Candidates must either be in a continuing education program that includes an internship as an integral part or have graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have some experience in the fields of learning and didactics, library or information management. While specific years of experience are not mandated, familiarity with the relevant areas and practical knowledge gained through previous internships or academic projects will be beneficial.
Languages: Fluent proficiency in both German and English is mandatory for this position. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not explicitly required.

The monthly intern compensation is €2,205.04 (gross).
