Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is part of the Global Health Sector Project, which advises the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) on global health policy issues. The focus areas include controlling infectious diseases, digital health, vaccine production, and achieving Universal Health Coverage. Interns will be involved in both action fields of the project, contributing to specific work packages. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage with pressing global health challenges and gain insights into the workings of GIZ and international organizations such as the G7, G20, and WHO. Interns will be expected to conduct research, prepare reports and presentations, and assist in organizing events, thereby gaining valuable experience in the field of global health.
Duties and Responsibilities: As an intern, you will support the project in various tasks, including: conducting research on current global health issues under the guidance of colleagues; creating and updating reports, talking points, and presentations in both German and English; assisting in the logistical and content preparation of internal and external events, including the drafting of protocols; and gaining insights into the operations of the Global Health Sector Project and its collaboration with international organizations. This role requires a proactive approach and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining high-quality outputs.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be enrolled in a university program, ideally in their fourth semester or higher, in fields such as medicine, health sciences, political science, or social sciences. A strong interest in topics related to Universal Health Coverage, health system strengthening, global health governance, and infectious diseases is essential. Previous practical experience in these areas is highly desirable. Additionally, candidates should possess excellent communication skills in both German and English, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and effectively in both languages, even under tight deadlines.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should be pursuing a degree in medicine, health sciences, political science, or social sciences. Enrollment in a program that requires an internship as part of the curriculum is necessary. Candidates who have recently graduated (within the last six months) are also eligible to apply, provided they meet the other requirements.
Experience: Interns should have some practical experience related to global health issues, which could include previous internships, volunteer work, or relevant coursework. This experience will help them understand the complexities of global health challenges and the role of international cooperation in addressing these issues.
Languages: Fluency in both German and English is mandatory, with strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages. The ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively is crucial. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
