Its mission is to save lives and reduce the burden of disease in low- and middle-income countries by supporting governments and the private sector in creating and sustaining high-quality health systems. Over the years, CHAI has expanded its focus beyond HIV to include infectious diseases like COVID-19, malaria, tuberculosis, and hepatitis, as well as non-communicable diseases such as cancer and diabetes. The organization operates in 40 countries and employs a diverse team dedicated to maximizing sustainable impact at scale, ensuring that solutions are led by governments and designed for national scalability. CHAI values diversity and inclusion, recognizing that a variety of experiences and backgrounds contribute to its mission.
Job Overview: The Analyst/Associate position at CHAI is designed to support the Chief Operating Officer's (COO) office, providing a unique opportunity to engage with senior leaders and gain insights into strategic global health issues. The role involves working closely with the Chief of Staff to the COO and collaborating with various teams across the organization, including finance and human resources. The position can be filled at different levels (Analyst, Senior Analyst, Associate, or Senior Associate) depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate. The base location is preferred to be in Cambodia or Laos, but candidates from Singapore, Vietnam, and Indonesia may also be considered. The role is critical in helping CHAI develop and execute strategies to address pressing health challenges.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Analyst/Associate will be responsible for providing analytical and project management support, which constitutes approximately 80% of the role. This includes conducting data analysis, research, and synthesis to generate insights for strategic decision-making, developing structured problem-solving approaches, and supporting the design and execution of high-priority initiatives. The individual will create dashboards, reports, and presentations to translate complex data into actionable insights, coordinate cross-functional projects, and proactively identify risks and bottlenecks. Additionally, the role involves supporting leadership meeting planning (approximately 10%), which includes coordinating logistics, developing agendas, and preparing materials for key leadership meetings. The remaining 10% of the role may involve miscellaneous tasks such as developing internal communications and improving processes that enhance the COO's efficiency.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree and have at least 2-3 years of relevant experience, although those with more experience are encouraged to apply. Exceptional analytical skills, both qualitative and quantitative, along with strong problem-solving and communication abilities are essential. The ability to collaborate remotely with team members across different geographies and operate independently in a demanding multicultural environment is crucial. Candidates should also be adept at multitasking, setting priorities, and rapidly synthesizing a broad range of information. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, is required.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree is required for this position, with a preference for candidates who have pursued studies related to public health, international relations, or a similar field that aligns with CHAI's mission and work.
Experience: The position requires at least 2-3 years of relevant experience, with a preference for candidates who have worked in fast-paced industries that demand high analytical skills, such as management consulting or investment banking. Experience in initiatives aimed at improving organizational effectiveness and efficiency is also advantageous, as is experience living and working in low-resource settings.
Languages: While the job description does not specify mandatory languages, proficiency in English is likely essential given the international nature of the organization. Additional languages relevant to the regions of operation (such as Khmer for Cambodia, or other Southeast Asian languages) may be beneficial but are not explicitly required.
Additional Notes: The role is flexible in terms of seniority level, allowing for adjustments based on the qualifications of the selected candidate. The position is full-time, and while it is based in Cambodia or Laos, candidates from Singapore, Vietnam, and Indonesia may also be considered. CHAI is committed to diversity and inclusion, and it is an Equal Opportunity Employer, ensuring that all applicants have access to equal employment opportunities.
