The focus areas include resilient water management and resilient water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) systems. The project aims to develop new mechanisms that promote access to safe water supply and wastewater disposal, consolidating efforts to establish these in international policy dialogue through implementation in partner countries. The intern will play a crucial role in preparing BMZ representatives for conferences and strategic meetings, as well as preparing contributions for international conferences and conducting specialized events.

Duties and Responsibilities:
As an intern in the InnoBlue project, your primary responsibilities will include supporting the team in the areas of WASH, international processes (including UN processes), and climate. Specific tasks will involve assisting with technical inquiries from BMZ regarding water issues (such as climate-resilient water management and WASH), supporting the conceptual design, planning, and execution of relevant national and international events (e.g., Stockholm World Water Week, World Water Forum, World Climate Conference, UN Water Conference 2026), providing organizational and substantive support in daily operations, and conducting research and analysis as well as writing texts in both German and English.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should have a university degree in political science, social sciences, economics, environmental sciences, or related fields. A strong interest in preparing technical topics and a talent for writing are essential. Ideally, candidates should have engaged intensively with one of the aforementioned topics (such as climate, WASH, gender) during their studies or internships and be willing to delve into new subject areas. Experience in communication/public relations is advantageous, as is any prior international experience in developing or emerging countries. Fluency in German and English is required, and knowledge of an additional foreign language (e.g., French, Spanish) is a plus. Candidates should be open-minded, proactive, well-organized, and possess strong analytical and conceptual skills.

Educational Background:
A university degree in fields such as political science, social sciences, economics, environmental sciences, or comparable study programs is required for this internship position. Candidates should demonstrate a solid academic foundation relevant to the tasks they will undertake during the internship.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have some experience, ideally through internships or academic projects, related to the fields of climate, WASH, or international processes. Previous involvement in communication or public relations, as well as any international experience, will be considered beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in both German and English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, knowledge of another foreign language such as French or Spanish is considered advantageous and may enhance a candidate's application.

Additional Notes:
The internship is only available to candidates who are currently enrolled in a study program that requires an internship as an integral part of their education, or who have graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship. The internship period is from June 1, 2025, to November 30, 2025, and it is a full-time position. The monthly stipend for interns is €2,205.04 (gross).
