Job Overview:
The Regional Program Manager (RPM) is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the M-RED (Managing Risk through Economic Development) program, which aims to create a sustainable model for integrated disaster risk reduction (DRR) and economic development. The RPM will ensure the program's quality and impact, focusing on enhancing resiliency in communities vulnerable to disasters, particularly those affected by climate change. The role involves managing program activities across Nepal and Indonesia, supervising program managers, and leading the program's learning agenda. The RPM will also be responsible for developing effective monitoring and evaluation systems to capture program outcomes and impacts, ensuring that the program aligns with Mercy Corps' broader resilience strategies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The RPM will deepen the integrated DRR and economic development model applied in Nepal and Indonesia, ensuring its relevance and effectiveness in different contexts. Responsibilities include supervising the implementation of the program's vision and strategy, managing the startup of MRED Phase V, and overseeing the design and implementation of emergency and innovation funds. The RPM will also manage the research and learning agenda, develop a comprehensive monitoring and evaluation system, and ensure compliance with donor policies. Additionally, the RPM will provide management oversight to program managers, develop their capacity, and facilitate team communication and collaboration. The role requires representation of Mercy Corps in various forums and collaboration with program partners to communicate lessons learned and success stories.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree or equivalent in business management (MBA), agricultural or environmental economics, disaster management, or a related field. A minimum of 5-7 years of field experience in international economic development programs that utilize market-based, value chain approaches to private sector development and/or disaster risk reduction programs is required. Strong leadership, management, and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively in diverse cultural contexts and manage complex multi-country budgets.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field such as business management, agricultural or environmental economics, disaster management, or a related discipline is required for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of economic development and disaster risk reduction, as well as for effectively managing programs that address these issues.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5-7 years of relevant field experience in international economic development programs. Candidates should have a strong background in utilizing market-based approaches and value chain development, particularly in the context of disaster risk reduction. Experience in managing multi-country programs and budgets is also essential, as well as a proven track record of leadership and team management in challenging environments.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within Mercy Corps and with international stakeholders. Proficiency in local languages spoken in Nepal and Indonesia would be advantageous, as it would facilitate better communication with local communities and stakeholders.

This position may involve travel to various program locations in Nepal and Indonesia, and candidates should be prepared for potential fieldwork in challenging environments. The role is full-time and may require flexibility in working hours to accommodate different time zones and program needs. Compensation and benefits will be commensurate with experience and in line with Mercy Corps' policies.
