Interns will be involved in the work of the ILO, contributing to the application of its principles, programs, and strategies. This internship is specifically designed for candidates interested in supporting the design and implementation of diversity and inclusion actions within the ILO's Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean. Interns will work under the direct supervision of the Regional Human ResourcesCoordinator and will be expected to engage actively in promoting diverse and inclusive workplaces, particularly focusing on the inclusion of persons with disabilities. The role will provide insights into the ILO's operations and its commitment to fostering an inclusive work environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in the design, implementation, and updating of the Diversity and Inclusion Plan for the Latin America and Caribbean region.
Help consolidate a network of organizations to disseminate information about selection processes in the region, particularly in Peru, Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia.
Support the development and organization of workshops and activities related to the Diversity and Inclusion Plan.
Collaborate with the Disability Inclusion team and other relevant stakeholders to create synergies that facilitate the achievement of the plan's objectives.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor, contributing to the overall goals of the HR team and the ILO's mission.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have a strong commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace. They should possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment. Sensitivity to gender and minority issues is essential, along with a non-discriminatory approach to all tasks. Candidates should also be proactive, organized, and capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
Educational Background: Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Administration, Law, Economics, Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, or related fields. Additionally, candidates should be enrolled in a graduate degree program (Master's or equivalent) relevant to the ILO's work or have completed such a program within the year preceding the application.
Experience: While prior experience is not mandatory, candidates with experience in organizations that promote the development and rights of persons with disabilities or minority groups will be given preference. This experience can include volunteer work, internships, or employment in relevant fields.
Languages: A working knowledge of English is mandatory, both oral and written. Advanced knowledge of Spanish is also required, as the internship will involve communication in both languages. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not necessary.
Additional Notes: This internship is limited to candidates with disabilities, emphasizing the ILO's commitment to promoting equality and inclusion. The duration of the internship is six months, starting on either the 1st or the 15th of a given month. Interns will receive a monthly stipend based on the cost of living in Lima, Peru, unless they receive funding from another institution.
