Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including but not limited to: assisting in the production of engaging multimedia content such as podcasts, infographics, videos, newsletters, and blogs; managing social media content across various platforms; liaising with other ILO units and offices to ensure cohesive communication strategies; supporting the communications team in promoting flagship publications like the World Employment and Social Outlook (WESO); coordinating events and managing logistics for in-person and online dissemination; curating and updating content on the official ILO website; and performing administrative tasks related to communication schedules and outreach efforts. Interns will also have the opportunity to work closely with research specialists and senior management on institutional matters, enhancing their exposure to high-level decision-making processes.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must meet several qualifications to be considered for this internship. They should be enrolled in or have completed a Master’s or Doctorate Programme in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, or a related field within the last year. A strong working knowledge of English, both oral and written, is mandatory. Additionally, candidates should possess strong communication skills, adaptability to a multicultural environment, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting. Familiarity with tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Canva, or similar software is advantageous, as is basic knowledge of social media analytics and digital publishing formats.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this internship includes enrollment in or completion of a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field such as communications, journalism, public relations, or marketing. Candidates must have completed their studies within the 12 months preceding the application to be eligible for this position. This educational requirement ensures that interns have a solid foundation in the principles and practices relevant to the work they will be undertaking at the ILO.
Experience: While prior experience is not strictly required, candidates with previous experience in content creation, social media management, or multimedia production will have an advantage in the selection process.
