Job Overview:
The position involves providing deliverable-based individual consultancy services in the tourism sector as part of the EU Partnership for Local Climate Action in Türkiye Project. The consultant will be expected to contribute to the development and implementation of strategies that enhance the sustainability of the tourism sector in Turkey. This role requires a deep understanding of the tourism industry, particularly in relation to climate action and sustainable practices. The consultant will work closely with local stakeholders, government entities, and other partners to ensure that the tourism sector aligns with climate action goals and contributes positively to local communities and the environment. The assignment period is from April 2025 to January 31, 2028, indicating a long-term commitment to the project and its objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for a variety of tasks including conducting assessments of the current tourism practices in Turkey, identifying areas for improvement, and developing actionable recommendations for sustainable tourism development. They will also be tasked with facilitating workshops and training sessions for local stakeholders to promote best practices in tourism management. Additionally, the consultant will need to prepare detailed reports on findings and recommendations, monitor the implementation of proposed strategies, and provide ongoing support to ensure the successful execution of the project objectives. Collaboration with other consultants and experts in the field will also be a key responsibility, ensuring a comprehensive approach to the challenges faced by the tourism sector in relation to climate change.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in tourism management, environmental science, or a related field. Proven experience in consultancy roles, particularly within the tourism sector, is essential. The ideal candidate should have a track record of working on projects related to sustainability and climate action, demonstrating the ability to develop and implement effective strategies. Strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and experience in stakeholder engagement are also required. Familiarity with EU policies and frameworks related to climate action and tourism will be considered an asset.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in tourism management, environmental science, sustainable development, or a related field is required. A master’s degree in a relevant discipline will be highly regarded and may be preferred for this consultancy role. Continuous professional development and certifications related to sustainable tourism practices will also be beneficial.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in the tourism sector, with a focus on sustainability and climate action. Experience working with international organizations, government agencies, or NGOs in a consultancy capacity is highly desirable. The candidate should have a proven ability to manage complex projects and deliver results within specified timelines.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Proficiency in Turkish is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance the effectiveness of the consultancy services. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the region may be considered an advantage.
