Job Overview:
The Social Media Intern position is part of the ILO's internship program, which provides students and recent graduates with the opportunity to gain practical experience in the field of communication and public information. The intern will work within the Department of Communication and Public Information (DCOMM), specifically in the Strategic Communication (STRATCOM) unit. The primary focus of this internship is to support the management and content creation for the ILO's global social media accounts, including platforms like TikTok and Instagram. Interns will engage in various tasks that enhance their understanding of international labor issues while developing their skills in digital communication and marketing. This role is designed to provide interns with exposure to the ILO's work and the broader world of work, allowing them to contribute meaningfully to the organization's communication efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Social Media Intern will have a range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: assisting the Audience Engagement Officer in managing ILO's social media presence; monitoring ILO's social media accounts and the organization's activities through these platforms; supporting content creation specifically for TikTok and Instagram; drafting messages and designing social media materials; producing videos for social media; selecting and editing photos for posts; monitoring trending issues on social media to contribute ideas during editorial meetings; and supporting social listening and data collection and analysis. The intern will gain hands-on experience in social media management and contribute to the ILO's communication strategies.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must meet several qualifications to be considered for this internship. They should be enrolled in a Master's or Doctorate program or have completed such a program within the past year. A working knowledge of English, both oral and written, is mandatory. Previous experience in social media management is considered an asset. Additionally, candidates should possess excellent writing skills, preferably with experience in writing for social media, and demonstrate a creative mindset with a strong interest in social media. The ability to adapt messages for a culturally diverse audience and work both independently and as part of a team is essential, along with the capability to meet strict deadlines.

Educational Background:
The ideal educational background for this internship includes fields such as communications, journalism, marketing, or related disciplines. Candidates must be currently enrolled in a Master's degree program or have completed such a program no longer than one year prior to the application date. This educational requirement ensures that interns have a foundational understanding of the principles and practices relevant to the role they will undertake.

Experience:
The level of experience required for this position is relatively flexible. While previous experience in social media management is advantageous, it is not strictly mandatory. The internship is primarily aimed at students or recent graduates who are looking to gain practical experience in a professional setting. The ILO values diverse backgrounds and encourages applications from individuals with varying levels of experience, particularly those who demonstrate a strong interest in social media and communication.

Languages:
A strong command of English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the ILO. Proficiency in these languages will enhance the intern's ability to engage with a broader audience and contribute effectively to the ILO's communication efforts.

Additional Notes:
The internship is expected to last between 3 to 6 months, with a start date on either the 1st or the 15th of a given month. Interns will receive a stipend of 2450 CHF per month, and if they receive partial funding from another institution, the ILO will cover the difference to ensure the total stipend remains at 2450 CHF. Additionally, interns will receive a monthly contribution towards medical insurance costs. Candidates from non- or under-represented member states may be eligible for financial assistance for round-trip airfare to Geneva. It is important to note that the ILO does not charge any fees during the recruitment process, and candidates are responsible for their own insurance coverage during the internship.
