Job Overview:
The People & Culture Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the People & Culture functions within UNICEF Pakistan. This position involves providing administrative, procedural, and operational support to ensure the effective implementation of various People & Culture activities. The assistant will work under the supervision of the People & Culture Officer, assisting in recruitment, staff development, job classification, and performance management. The role requires a proactive approach to support business partners in enhancing employee well-being and managing change processes. The assistant will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with UNICEF's People & Culture rules and regulations, thereby contributing to the overall efficiency of the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support business partnering by developing initiatives for employee well-being and recognition schemes.
  • Assist in managing change processes by advising clients on updates to People & Culture processes.
  • Facilitate the use of People & Culture systems such as talent management and performance tracking.
  • Prepare and circulate internal and external job advertisements.
  • Liaise with candidates throughout the recruitment process, including sending formal acknowledgments and offer letters.
  • Conduct reference checks and academic verifications, ensuring all background checks are completed.
  • Maintain recruitment files and monitor the recruitment process lifecycle.
  • Prepare documentation for job classification and monitor requests to facilitate recruitment and organizational planning.
  • Provide general office support, including drafting correspondence, maintaining records, scheduling meetings, and generating reports. 1
  • Ensure timely delivery of People & Culture processes and provide routine information to clients and senior team members.

Required Qualifications:
  • Completion of secondary education, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses related to human resources or administration.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible administrative or operational support experience, particularly in talent acquisition or human resources.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and support the development of others.
  • Demonstrated understanding of People & Culture procedures and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Educational Background:
Candidates should have completed secondary education, with a preference for those who have pursued further technical or university-level courses related to human resources, administration, or a relevant field. This educational background will provide the foundational knowledge necessary for the administrative and operational support required in this role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in administrative or operational support, particularly in the context of talent acquisition and human resources. Candidates should demonstrate a track record of effectively managing recruitment processes and providing support in organizational design and job classification.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate in a diverse work environment and engage with a broader range of stakeholders.

The contract type for this position is a Local ICA Support Contract at level LICA 5, with a duration of 6 months.
