This role involves engaging with various stakeholders, including the media and the public, to raise awareness about gender equality and women's empowerment. The internship offers a unique opportunity to learn about the challenges and efforts related to gender equality in Indonesia while gaining insights into the workings of the UN system and UN Women. The intern will also have the chance to participate in workshops and seminars, providing valuable networking opportunities with program colleagues and youth networks.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will support the communications team in various capacities, including:
  • Advocacy and Communications: Assisting in the development of communication materials such as presentations, templates, and infographics. Supporting communications activities like campaigns, events, launches, trainings, and media briefings. Helping the Country Office teams create key external communication materials, including web articles, briefs, fact sheets, posters, videos, and infographics. Assisting in media outreach, handling media inquiries, and maintaining press clippings of media mentions. Supporting the maintenance of a library/database of reference materials and digital assets.
  • Social Media: Drafting, preparing, and scheduling content for social media accounts. Researching additional content related to women's empowerment and gender equality. Assisting in the creation of an editorial workplan calendar. Monitoring social media channels and engaging with the audience. Expanding the network of followers and creating visual assets for social media. Supporting monthly reporting on social media campaign performance.
  • Other: Supporting general administrative tasks and logistical requirements as needed and performing other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral, in English. A working knowledge of another UN language is considered an advantage. The intern should demonstrate a client-oriented approach and have a good understanding of production, graphic design, multimedia, and photography standards. Familiarity with social media platforms and outreach strategies is essential, along with strong research and analytical skills. The ability to communicate sensitively and effectively across different constituencies is crucial, as is the capacity to create, edit, and present information clearly in both online and offline formats.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level), have graduated within the last two years, or be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program that requires the internship as part of the program. Relevant fields of study include communications, journalism, public relations, social sciences, or other related subjects.

Experience:
The position is designed for individuals who may not have extensive professional experience but are eager to learn and contribute to the field of communications and advocacy. Previous internships or volunteer experiences related to communications, advocacy, or gender issues will be beneficial but are not mandatory. The focus is on candidates who are motivated to gain practical experience and insights into the workings of UN Women and gender equality efforts in Indonesia.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, with excellent written and oral communication skills. Knowledge of another UN language is advantageous and may enhance the candidate's profile.
