Job Overview:

The role involves performing specialized tasks related to security operations, including monitoring security equipment and supporting humanitarian convoy missions. The Security Assistant will work closely with local security stakeholders, including the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS), to coordinate movements, clearances, and access for safe program delivery. The position requires strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to adapt to dynamic environments. The selected candidate will contribute to the implementation and evaluation of security measures, ensuring that WFP's operations can continue safely and effectively in challenging contexts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Security Assistant will have a range of responsibilities, including:
  • Reviewing security threats and risks, compiling reports on trends that could impact WFP operations.
  • Analyzing security-related information and providing reports to ensure stakeholders have access to necessary data.
  • Coordinating with local authorities and security personnel to facilitate safe program delivery.
  • Planning and conducting field missions, including tracking staff and performing security assessments.
  • Preparing detailed security assessment reports with risk mitigation recommendations.
  • Advising the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director on security risk management and safety issues.
  • Implementing security risk management measures, including Minimum Operational Security Standards (MOSS).
  • Managing and maintaining security equipment and identifying new requirements.
  • Monitoring access control procedures to ensure a secure environment. 1
  • Contributing to emergency planning documentation and identifying training needs for staff development. 1
  • Supervising and training other staff to enhance their performance.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a good theoretical understanding of security management concepts and principles, along with knowledge of best practices in the security field. They should have experience in administration and coordination with diverse stakeholders, as well as the ability to communicate effectively and adapt their communication style to different situations. The role requires the ability to analyze information and develop efficient solutions, work accurately under pressure, and possess good political and social knowledge of Lebanon. Experience in security operations and providing technical guidance is essential.

Educational Background:
The minimum educational requirement for this position is the completion of secondary education, supplemented by relevant technical, military, or police courses, or university courses in a relevant discipline. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of security operations and risk management.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least five years of progressively responsible experience in security operations and security risk management, preferably within the humanitarian or non-profit sector. A background in police or military service is desirable, as it provides relevant experience in security protocols and operations.

Languages:
Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Arabic is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of French is considered an asset and may enhance communication capabilities within the organization and with external stakeholders.

The contract duration for this position is six months, with the possibility of renewal based on the availability of funds, business needs, and performance.
