Job Overview: The Urban Analyst (Individual Contractor) position is designed to support UN-Habitat's ongoing projects and initiatives in Lebanon, particularly those related to urban data collection and analysis. The position is expected to last for three months, from January 5, 2026, to April 4, 2026, and will require a proactive approach to problem-solving and collaboration with various partners.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Urban Analyst (Individual Contractor) will have a diverse set of responsibilities aimed at supporting UN-Habitat's mission in Lebanon. Key duties include:
Designing and developing assessment and analysis tools tailored to the Lebanese context, including drafting and reviewing questionnaires.
Preparing and implementing field assessments to collect quantitative, qualitative, and mapped data on various urban themes, coordinating with local authorities and colleagues.
Assisting in field visits for data collection and verification purposes.
Contributing to the creation of high-quality information products, such as reports, maps, dashboards, and infographics that summarize findings and recommendations from assessments.
Organizing capacity development sessions, training workshops, and meetings, ensuring proper documentation is maintained.
Participating in meetings and networking efforts with partners to enhance urban data collection and analysis.
Preparing periodic reports for project monitoring and donor documentation.
Assisting in the development of project concept notes and proposals that incorporate urban data components.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a high school degree complemented by additional training in urban planning, architecture, or related fields. A minimum of five years of relevant experience focusing on urban development or related topics is required. Proven skills in urban research and analysis, along with strong report drafting and review capabilities, are essential. Familiarity with urban information management and data visualization techniques, including mapping, is necessary. Proficiency in software tools such as AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat is required. Previous experience with a United Nations agency or in the humanitarian/development sector is considered an advantage.
Educational Background: The position requires a high school diploma with supplementary training in urban planning, architecture, or equivalent fields. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of urban environments and the methodologies used in urban analysis and planning.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of five years of relevant experience, particularly in urban development or related fields.
