Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is part of the Sector Project (SV) Agriculture, which advises the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) on integrating experiences and concepts from German development cooperation into national and international processes. The project focuses on promoting sustainable agriculture and positioning the BMZ's core theme of 'Living Without Hunger - Transformation of Agricultural and Food Systems'. Interns will be involved in developing innovative conceptual approaches and methods, supporting the BMZ in setting thematic priorities for its strategic direction, and strengthening the development policy portfolio in the agricultural sector.

Duties and Responsibilities:
As an intern, you will be responsible for conducting research and preparing information related to the specified thematic areas. You will assist in responding to consulting inquiries from the BMZ, contribute to the creation of thematic analyses, regularly summarize relevant professional publications for the sector project, and document meetings and professional events. This role requires a proactive approach to learning and contributing to the team's objectives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be enrolled in a relevant degree program from the third semester onwards, demonstrating a strong interest in development policy issues related to agriculture. A personal motivation to further qualify in these topics is essential. Ideally, candidates should have prior internship or work experience in a developing or emerging country. Proficiency in German (minimum C1 level) and very good English skills, both written and spoken, are mandatory. Knowledge of French is considered an advantage. Candidates should be proficient in Microsoft Office and possess flexibility, organizational skills, and excellent communication abilities. Team orientation and a structured, independent working style are also important.

Educational Background:
The position requires candidates to be currently enrolled in a relevant academic program, specifically from the third semester onward. The internship is intended for students who are either in a program that requires an internship as an integral part of their studies or have graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have some practical experience, preferably through internships or work in a development context or emerging markets. This experience will help them understand the complexities of development work and the agricultural sector.

Languages:
Fluency in German is mandatory, with a minimum proficiency level of C

  • The monthly stipend for interns is €2,205.04 (gross).
