Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is part of the 'Powering Climate Protection' initiative, which advises the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action on fundamental issues in international climate and energy policy, as well as implementation initiatives. The focus of this role includes reducing global greenhouse gas emissions in line with the 1.5°C target, implementing global renewable energy and energy efficiency goals, phasing out the production and use of fossil fuels such as coal and natural gas, and collaborating with the private sector. Interns will have the opportunity to work on both long-term objectives and current political developments, contributing to the creation of advisory documents, decision-making templates, and presentations, as well as conducting research and preparing relevant facts and data related to climate and energy topics.
Duties and Responsibilities: As an intern, you will be involved in various tasks, including supporting the preparation of advisory documents and presentations, conducting research, compiling and preparing relevant facts and data on climate and energy-related topics, and assisting in the organizational preparation and follow-up of internal and external events such as working groups, conferences, and workshops. This role requires a proactive approach and the ability to work collaboratively within a team, as well as the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and tasks.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should have prior experience in one or more of the following areas: collaboration with political institutions (ministries, multilateral organizations, etc.), knowledge of international climate policy (particularly in mitigation), promotion of renewable energies, expertise in energy efficiency and energy savings, understanding of the political economy of fossil fuels (coal, oil, and gas), and knowledge of financial and trade policy issues in the context of international climate protection and the global energy transition. Additionally, candidates should possess a structured and independent working style, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team.
Educational Background: The internship is only available to individuals who are currently enrolled in a degree program, are in a training program that requires an internship as an integral part, or have graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship. This requirement ensures that candidates are actively engaged in their educational pursuits while gaining practical experience in the field.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have some prior experience in relevant fields, particularly in areas related to climate policy, energy efficiency, and collaboration with political institutions. This experience can be gained through previous internships, academic projects, or professional roles that align with the responsibilities of the internship.
Languages: Fluency in both German and English is mandatory, with a minimum proficiency level of C1 in both languages. This is essential for effective communication within the team and with external stakeholders. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not required.
