Job Overview: The Project Manager for the WASH program is tasked with implementing and achieving the objectives outlined in operational proposals. This role involves overseeing operational teams assigned to the program, ensuring the quality and performance of program activities, and proposing necessary adjustments to maintain relevance. The position is critical in responding to the needs of the population in Ukraine, particularly in the context of the ongoing conflict. The manager will face challenges such as establishing a new HR setup and strategy for 2025, monitoring and finalizing WASH activities related to multiple projects, and contributing to the overall program strategy in East Ukraine. The role also requires adherence to security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security protocols due to the unstable environment, including curfews and tracking procedures for staff safety.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Implement and manage WASH program activities in accordance with operational proposals.
Oversee and support operational teams to ensure effective program delivery.
Monitor and finalize WASH activities related to 2 to 3 projects, ensuring compliance with signed grants/contracts.
Conduct capacity building for team members in line with SI tools and procedures.
Contribute to the strategic planning of SI's program in East Ukraine, including conducting assessments and responding to emergencies as needed.
Ensure adherence to security protocols and procedures to safeguard staff and program integrity.
Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to enhance program effectiveness.
Prepare reports and documentation related to program activities and outcomes.
Engage with local partners to facilitate the transfer of activities and ensure sustainability.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a degree in water management or environmental project management. A minimum of 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector is required, with at least 3-4 years in a similar position. Candidates should demonstrate strong program management skills, including financial, administrative, and logistical oversight of multiple projects across various sectors. Technical knowledge in WASH activities, such as water supply systems rehabilitation and sanitation, is essential. Additionally, candidates should have experience in shelter activities, including repairs at both household and institutional levels.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should have a relevant degree in water management or environmental project management. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of WASH programs and effectively managing related projects in a humanitarian context.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with a focus on WASH or related fields. Experience in a similar managerial role is also necessary to ensure that the candidate can effectively lead teams and manage program activities in a challenging environment.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in Ukrainian or Russian is considered an asset, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance program implementation.

The role is based in Dnipro, Ukraine, and involves a salaried position starting from EUR 2,310 gross per month, which includes a base salary and an annual leave allowance. Additionally, a monthly per diem of USD 700 is provided. SI covers accommodation costs and travel expenses for expatriates. The organization implements a break system, allowing for 7 working days off every three months, along with an additional rest day for each month worked. Expatriates are provided with a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses, including medical, surgical, dental, and repatriation costs. Living conditions in Dnipro include access to guest houses within walking distance of the office, with internet access available, although interruptions may occur due to energy infrastructure attacks. Despite security concerns, Dnipro offers various activities and amenities within a validated green zone.
