Job Overview: The Operations Assistant (Field Support) plays a crucial role in the field operations of IOM, specifically in the area of movement operations. This position is supervised by the Movement Operations Manager and the Senior Operations Assistant, Movement and Data Processing. The primary responsibility of the Operations Assistant is to undertake various movement operations activities in the field, which may include working at airports, transit centers, or other facilities. The Operations Assistant must be prepared to work in dynamic environments and provide support during critical moments of the migration process, including transportation coordination and assistance at transit facilities.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Operations Assistant (Field Support) has a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including:
Undertaking field support activities in designated areas, such as airports or transit centers.
Performing airport services, including verifying travel documentation and assisting with airport formalities.
Assisting individuals at transit centers with sign-in, orientation, and support during their stay.
Providing assistance for extended periods, ensuring the needs of individuals are met.
Coordinating transportation logistics and ensuring proper identity verification.
Offering support for selection missions and providing interpretation services as needed.
Maintaining communication with supervisors and reporting any issues promptly.
Ensuring confidentiality and integrity of paperwork in compliance with data protection rules.
Performing additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of four years of working experience with a secondary education or two years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree. Experience in Movement Operations or transportation is highly advantageous. Candidates should also demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and internet usage. The ability to work effectively in a team and manage tasks efficiently is essential for this role.
Educational Background: The educational requirements for this position include a secondary education diploma or a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. The universities must be recognized in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Experience: The ideal candidate should have prior experience in Movement Operations or related transportation fields.
