Job Overview:
The position of Praktikant*in for the sector project on sustainable-development-financing" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Sustainable Development Financing involves providing strategic, development policy, and technical advice to the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The intern will assist in the implementation of the Addis Ababa Action Agenda (AAAA) and support the multilateral Financing for Development (FfD) process across various themes at different levels, including the United Nations, EU, OECD, and G2
  • The role will focus on three main areas: international positioning in the field of sustainable development financing, partnerships and networks, and analysis and trend observation. The intern will play a crucial role in preparing for the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development, scheduled for June 2025, and will contribute to the development of a new financing agenda.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for supporting the strategic, development policy, and technical advice to the BMZ. This includes conducting research and analysis on current issues and challenges in sustainable development financing, such as the reform of the international financial architecture and private sector mobilization. The intern will monitor international discussions, trends, and environmental observations related to sustainable development financing, particularly the impacts of multiple crises and geopolitical changes. Additionally, the intern will assist in negotiations regarding the final document of the 4th FfD Conference, evaluate the outcomes of the conference, and contribute conceptually to the implementation of a new financing agenda. The role also involves preparing and organizing internal and external events, including the creation of meeting minutes, and providing administrative and organizational support to the sector project, especially in preparation for the 4th FfD Conference.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have at least completed a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as economics, finance, political science, or public administration. Ideally, candidates should be currently enrolled in a Master's program or have recently completed their Master's degree. Knowledge of development financing, macroeconomics, financial policy, financial system development, and/or sectoral financing is desirable. Excellent writing and editing skills in various political and multilateral contexts are essential, along with strong analytical abilities, communication, and organizational skills. Candidates should be motivated, team-oriented, and able to quickly adapt to new topics. Experience and knowledge of institutional actors and processes in sustainable development financing, including UN processes and negotiations, are advantageous. An interest in multilateralism and international politics is also beneficial. Fluency in German and English is required, and knowledge of an additional foreign language is a plus. Proficiency in common MS Office programs is expected.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a completed Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Candidates who are currently pursuing a Master's degree or have recently graduated from a Master's program are preferred. The internship is only possible if the candidate is currently enrolled in a program that requires an internship as an integral part of their studies or if their graduation occurred no more than six months prior to the start of the internship.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have some practical work experience, which is considered advantageous. This could include internships, volunteer work, or other relevant experiences that demonstrate the candidate's ability to engage with the topics of sustainable development financing and related fields.

Languages:
Fluency in both German and English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, knowledge of another foreign language is considered beneficial and may enhance the candidate's profile.
