Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position in the Environmental Policy component is part of the Biodiversity-Environment-Seas sector project. The role involves advising and supporting the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in shaping international and national development policy processes related to environmental policy. The intern will contribute to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda and the Biodiversity Convention by preparing political positions, compiling experiences, and developing innovative concepts and approaches. The intern will also assist in shaping global initiatives and support the management and further development of the development cooperation portfolio and public relations in the sector. Key thematic areas include environmental economic approaches, nature-based solutions, and the continuous development of environmental policy approaches and instruments.
Duties and Responsibilities: As an intern, you will perform the following tasks: Conducting technical research and supporting conceptual work for the project, such as preparing reports and background documents on current topics related to the ecological dimension of sustainable development. Assisting in the preparation of short statements and handling inquiries from the BMZ. Supporting the content and organizational preparation of conferences, expert meetings, or working groups organized or accompanied by the project. Participating in events related to development cooperation in Bonn, Eschborn, or digitally. Assisting the project team with regular tasks, such as writing meeting minutes.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should be enrolled in a degree program in economics, environmental science, political science, or related fields with a focus on development and environmental issues, starting from the third semester. A strong interest in German and international development and environmental policy is essential, along with basic knowledge or initial experience in development cooperation. Prior knowledge in environmental economics is advantageous. Excellent verbal communication skills are required, with the ability to describe complex relationships clearly and concisely. Candidates must have negotiation-level proficiency in German and excellent English skills, with additional proficiency in Spanish or French being ideal. Candidates should be open-minded, team-oriented, and able to work independently, goal-oriented, and creatively.
Educational Background: The position requires candidates to be currently enrolled in a university program, in a training program that includes an internship as an integral part, or to have graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship.
Experience: The internship is suitable for candidates who have some experience or knowledge in the fields of development cooperation, environmental policy, or related areas. While prior experience is beneficial, it is not mandatory, as the organization values enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.
Languages: Fluency in German is mandatory, with negotiation-level proficiency required. Excellent English skills are also essential. Knowledge of Spanish or French is considered a plus, enhancing the candidate's profile for this position.

The monthly intern compensation is €2,205.04 (gross).
