Job Overview:
The Livelihoods and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Food Security Project Officer will play a crucial role in implementing activities focused on livelihoods and food security, particularly in supporting traders, bakeries, and community kitchens. This position involves managing field staff, coordinating with various stakeholders, and ensuring the effective delivery of project objectives in accordance with NRC's guidelines and donor requirements. The officer will be responsible for overseeing all stages of program activities in different humanitarian settings throughout Gaza, ensuring compliance with NRC policies and standards, and maintaining high-quality project implementation. The role requires a proactive approach to community engagement and mobilization, as well as a commitment to safeguarding and ethical practices in humanitarian work.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Livelihoods and Food Security Project Officer will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including: ensuring compliance with NRC policies and guidelines; implementing technical activities related to livelihoods and food security; conducting regular field visits to monitor project progress and provide technical support; facilitating community mobilization and engagement; participating in the selection and targeting of beneficiaries; overseeing the distribution of in-kind or cash assistance; conducting baseline assessments and monitoring activities; ensuring proper documentation and reporting of project activities; coordinating with relevant stakeholders and departments; and representing NRC in working groups and technical discussions. The officer will also be expected to contribute to market assessments and other tasks as assigned by the line manager.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess 2-3 years of experience working in livelihoods and food security or cash-based projects within a humanitarian context. Previous experience in complex and volatile environments is essential, along with documented results related to the responsibilities of the position. Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills are required, as well as experience with community engagement and civil society capacity building. Proficiency in IT, particularly MS Office applications, is necessary, and familiarity with cash transfer programming is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, as well as the capacity to manage workloads effectively under pressure.

Educational Background:
A relevant educational background is required for this position, ideally in fields related to humanitarian assistance, social sciences, or development studies. Candidates should have a solid understanding of the principles and practices of livelihoods and food security programming, as well as the ability to apply these concepts in a practical context.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have 2-3 years of relevant experience in livelihoods and food security projects, particularly in humanitarian settings. Experience working directly with vulnerable populations and applying a conflict-sensitive approach is highly valued. Candidates should also have a track record of successful project implementation and the ability to navigate complex operational environments.

Languages:
Fluency in both Arabic and English, both written and verbal, is mandatory for this role. Strong communication skills in these languages are essential for effective engagement with project participants, stakeholders, and partners. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not required.

Additional Notes:
This position is based in Gaza and is classified as Grade (05) Step (01). The contract duration is for 12 months, and the salary and benefits are aligned with the Gaza Duty Station.
