Job Overview: The Logistics Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating logistics operations within the organization. This position involves managing the supply chain, ensuring the timely delivery of goods and services, and optimizing logistics processes to enhance efficiency. The Logistics Manager will be responsible for developing logistics strategies, managing inventory, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures. The role requires strong analytical skills to assess logistics performance and implement improvements. The successful candidate will work closely with other departments to ensure that logistics support aligns with programmatic needs and objectives, contributing to the overall success of the organization's mission.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement logistics strategies to optimize supply chain operations.
Manage the procurement process, including sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing goods and services.
Oversee inventory management, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of stock levels.
Coordinate transportation and distribution of goods, ensuring timely delivery to program sites.
Ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.
Collaborate with program teams to understand logistics needs and provide effective support.
Monitor logistics performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.
Prepare and maintain logistics reports and documentation.
Train and supervise logistics staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment. 1
Liaise with external partners, suppliers, and stakeholders to enhance logistics operations.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience in logistics management, preferably in a humanitarian or development context.
Strong understanding of supply chain processes and best practices.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Proficiency in logistics software and tools.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field is required. A master's degree or relevant professional certification in logistics or supply chain management is preferred and may enhance the candidate's qualifications.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics management, with a demonstrated track record of success in overseeing logistics operations in complex environments. Experience working in the Palestinian Territory or similar contexts is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage and may be beneficial for effective communication within the local context.
