Job Overview:
The Physician Nutrition Specialist will play a crucial role in assessing and managing the nutritional needs of patients, particularly those suffering from malnutrition and related health issues. This position requires a deep understanding of nutritional science and its application in clinical settings. The specialist will work closely with healthcare teams to develop and implement nutrition care plans, conduct nutritional assessments, and provide education to patients and their families. The role also involves collaborating with community health workers to promote nutrition awareness and healthy eating practices within the community. The Physician Nutrition Specialist is expected to stay updated on the latest research and guidelines in nutrition and health, ensuring that the services provided are evidence-based and culturally appropriate.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments for patients, including dietary history, anthropometric measurements, and clinical evaluations.
  • Develop individualized nutrition care plans based on assessment findings and patient needs.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate nutrition interventions into overall patient care.
  • Provide education and counseling to patients and families on nutrition-related topics, including dietary modifications and healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of nutrition interventions and adjust care plans as necessary.
  • Participate in community outreach programs to promote nutrition education and awareness.
  • Stay informed about current research and best practices in nutrition and health.
  • Document all patient interactions and care plans in accordance with organizational policies.

Required Qualifications:
  • Medical degree (MD or equivalent) with specialization in nutrition or a related field.
  • Valid medical license to practice in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • Strong knowledge of nutritional science and its application in clinical practice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare teams.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health records and other relevant software.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of nutrition.

Educational Background:
A medical degree (MD or equivalent) is required, with additional training or certification in nutrition or dietetics preferred. Candidates with a Master's degree in Public Health or Nutrition will be given priority. Continuous education in the field of nutrition is highly valued, and participation in relevant workshops and seminars is encouraged.

Experience:
