Job Overview: The Business Support Assistant (Management Services) position is designed to provide essential administrative support within the WFP's Country Office. The role involves performing various business support processes to facilitate effective service delivery in a specific professional area. The job holder will work under minimal supervision, producing organized and accurate work while undertaking specific business support activities. This position is crucial for ensuring that the administrative and financial tasks are managed efficiently, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the WFP's operations in Gaza. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Business Support Assistant include but are not limited to: gathering information to support the drafting of documents and preparing reports; responding to client queries and escalating issues as necessary; processing and managing routine administrative and financial tasks; providing revision and proofreading services for standard documents; maintaining standard systems and files to ensure information accuracy; identifying discrepancies in data and reporting them to senior staff; ensuring data integrity in corporate systems; offering guidance on routine business support methods to junior colleagues; and collaborating with various individuals to enhance business support delivery.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have completed secondary school education and possess four or more years of progressively responsible work experience in a relevant business stream, particularly in general administrative work. Proficiency in using office equipment and computer software packages, such as Microsoft Word, is essential. Candidates should have a solid understanding of work routines and methods to complete processes with minimal supervision. The ability to communicate tactfully and courteously with a wide range of individuals is crucial, as is the capability to identify and rectify data discrepancies. Additionally, candidates should be able to provide basic on-the-job training to junior staff.
Educational Background: The minimum educational requirement for this position is the completion of secondary school education. This foundational education is essential for understanding the administrative processes and tasks that the Business Support Assistant will be responsible for.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of four years of progressively responsible work experience in a relevant business stream, with a focus on general administrative tasks. The contract is specifically for Palestinian nationals residing in Gaza. The remuneration will be based on the SSA Salary Scale, and health coverage will be provided under CIGNA with cost-sharing. Employees are entitled to one day of leave per month if the contract duration exceeds six months. Sick leave is not applicable, and remuneration under the SSA is subject to national or local taxation. Medical clearance is required for the position, and candidates must be national residents or possess a valid visa/permit to live and work in Palestine.
