Job Overview:
The Deputy Fund Director for the Livelihoods and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Food Security Fund (LIFT) will be instrumental in leading the Fund's strategic direction and ensuring effective implementation of its objectives. This role involves overseeing technical teams, managing program coordination, and enhancing the Fund's capacity to deliver on its strategic goals. The Deputy Fund Director will work closely with the Fund Director and the Fund Board, providing strategic analysis and guidance on program opportunities and risks. This position requires a strong background in food security, livelihoods, and nutrition, as well as excellent leadership skills to manage diverse teams in complex environments. The Deputy Fund Director will also be responsible for fostering innovation and building strategic partnerships to maximize the Fund's impact.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Deputy Fund Director will have a wide range of responsibilities, including: providing strategic leadership to the Fund Management Office; acting as the Fund Director in their absence; delivering strategic analysis and advice to the Fund Director and Board; overseeing the implementation of LIFT's strategy; identifying and resolving bottlenecks in program delivery; managing risk and ensuring compliance; supervising and coaching staff; leading innovation in development practices; managing international specialists and consultants; and sharing best practices across the organization. Additionally, the Deputy Fund Director will lead strategic reviews of LIFT's portfolio, represent the Fund in donor relations, and develop funding proposals to secure new resources.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree in a relevant field such as rural development, business administration, public administration, or international relations. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree combined with two additional years of relevant work experience may be considered. The role requires a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in program or project management, with at least 7 years in leadership roles within complex and conflict-affected areas. Experience in food security, livelihoods, and agricultural development is highly desirable, as is familiarity with the UN system and major donor operations.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree is preferred for this position, particularly in fields related to rural development, business administration, public administration, or international relations. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree and additional relevant experience may also be considered. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of the role and the challenges faced in the field of food security and livelihoods.

Experience:
The position requires extensive experience, specifically a minimum of 10 years in program or project management, with a strong emphasis on leadership in diverse and challenging environments. Candidates should have at least 7 years of experience managing teams and achieving results in conflict-affected areas. Experience in food security, livelihoods, and agricultural development is an asset, as well as practical experience within the UN system or with major donors. Familiarity with innovation in the private sector is also advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of a second UN language is considered an advantage, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in a diverse work environment.

Additional Notes:
The contract type for this position is an International Individual Contractor Agreement at the ICS12 / IICA 4 level. The contract duration is ongoing, subject to budget availability and satisfactory performance.
