Job Overview: The position involves working under the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) Education Sector Program Implementation Grant (ESPIG) to enhance the quality of education in Myanmar. The specialist will be responsible for finalizing the existing draft curriculum framework and developing modules for a community teachers' training program. This role requires a deep understanding of the educational landscape in Myanmar, particularly in pre-service teacher education. The specialist will also develop a Rapid Pre-service Teacher Development (RPD) Action Plan, ensuring that the training materials are context-responsive and aligned with the Myanmar Teacher Competency Standards Framework. The position emphasizes the importance of creating engaging and effective learning materials that cater to the diverse needs of educators and trainers in the region.
Duties and Responsibilities: The specialist will undertake a variety of tasks, including reviewing and finalizing the curriculum framework, developing training modules, and conducting needs assessments. Specific duties include:
Finalizing the curriculum framework and developing online modules for community teachers' training, ensuring they are comprehensive and tailored to the needs of educators in Myanmar.
Creating engaging content for each module, including lectures, quizzes, and assessments, while ensuring compatibility with the Myanmar Teacher Platform (MTP).
Developing videos and interactive components to enhance learner engagement.
Conducting research to align training materials with international standards and local educational needs.
Organizing materials according to UNESCO's graphical standards and ensuring compliance with gender-neutral language guidelines.
Collaborating with UNESCO to revise and finalize course materials based on feedback.
Communicating regularly with UNESCO to provide updates on progress and address any concerns.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in education and have a minimum of five years of experience in managing or coordinating education projects. A strong understanding of the Myanmar educational context, particularly in pre-service teacher education, is essential. Experience in developing teacher training resources and delivering training programs is required. Candidates should demonstrate excellent project management skills, the ability to meet deadlines, and effective communication skills. Familiarity with ICT tools and the capacity to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural environment are also necessary.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree in education or a related field is required for this position.
