Job Overview: The consultancy aims to enhance UNFPA Myanmar's capacity-building interventions related to gender-based violence (GBV) prevention and response. The consultant will play a crucial role in strengthening the capabilities of partner organizations, particularly in GBV case management, safe house operations, and hotline services. This position is vital in addressing the increasing humanitarian needs and GBV risks in Myanmar, ensuring that quality services are provided to those affected. The consultant will be responsible for planning and organizing various capacity-building activities, facilitating training sessions, and providing technical support to implementing partners. The role requires a commitment to ethical standards and a passion for empowering marginalized communities, particularly women and young people, in their fight against GBV.
Duties and Responsibilities: The national consultant will be tasked with a range of responsibilities aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of GBV programs. Key duties include: coordinating and facilitating training sessions for GBV prevention and response actors; providing technical support to implementing partners and civil society organizations (CSOs) in case management and psychosocial interventions for GBV survivors; promoting standardized operations for safe houses and helplines; reviewing and adapting training materials to integrate best practices; disseminating guidelines and protocols for GBV programming; building networks with non-governmental and humanitarian actors; expanding the CSO network to respond effectively to GBV; collecting and evaluating program activity information; conducting monitoring and supervision of GBV interventions; and performing other duties as assigned by UNFPA.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in social work, social sciences, gender studies, anthropology, law, sociology, international relations, or a related field. Additionally, a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in programming or training on gender and GBV prevention and response is required. Experience in developing and delivering GBV training to various partners, including NGOs and community participants, is essential. Candidates should also have field experience in integrating gender and GBV issues in emergency contexts, as well as demonstrated experience in providing technical assistance to improve case management and safe house operations. A strong understanding of Myanmar's socio-cultural issues and legal frameworks is necessary, along with excellent writing, presentation, and computer skills.
Educational Background: The position requires an advanced university degree in a relevant field such as social work, social sciences, gender studies, anthropology, law, sociology, or international relations. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of gender-based violence and the socio-cultural dynamics in Myanmar.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least 2 years of relevant working experience in programming and training related to gender and GBV.
