Established with 38 member countries, the OECD serves as a platform for governments, policymakers, and citizens to collaborate on evidence-based international standards and solutions to various social, economic, and environmental challenges. The organization focuses on enhancing economic performance, job creation, education, and combating international tax evasion, providing a unique forum for data analysis, experience exchange, best practices, and public policy advice. The OECD's Executive Directorate (EXD) manages resources on behalf of the Secretary-General, emphasizing the well-being of people, efficient budget management, and the safety of staff and visitors. The EXD also oversees the management of physical and digital infrastructure and supports the convening power of the OECD through various events and meetings.
Job Overview: The Security Officer position within the OECD's Executive Directorate (EXD) is crucial for ensuring the safety and security of the organization's personnel and property. The role involves participating in the protection of VIPs and implementing specific security arrangements for events. The successful candidate will report to the Heads of the Security Unit and must be available for 8- or 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays. A key requirement is the ability to carry a firearm in a professional setting, with the understanding that any permanent reversal of fitness may lead to contract termination. The position demands a proactive approach to security, with responsibilities including overseeing operational security staff, managing technical systems, responding to security incidents, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Security Officer will oversee and coordinate operational security staff, including both internal officials and external service providers, ensuring effective security measures across all sites. Responsibilities include managing technical systems at the Site Command Centre, handling security and fire alarms, analyzing requests that may impact operational security, and supervising subcontracted fire safety officers. The officer will also trigger crisis procedures during serious incidents, manage emergency operations, and perform various administrative tasks such as monitoring statistics and drafting reports. Additionally, the officer will carry out patrols, manage screening areas, intervene in security issues, and ensure the safety of high-level visitors during sensitive events. The role requires independent management of emergency procedures and participation in security provisions for major events.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a post-secondary qualification, such as a university degree or advanced vocational diploma, and hold a Category 'B' driving license. A minimum of eight years of experience in security, whether in the private or public sector, is required, along with experience in carrying a service weapon in a professional environment. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to manage high-stress situations, possess training in tactical marksmanship and security response techniques, and have proven experience in emergency management and decision-making. Proficiency in IT tools such as Word, Excel, and Outlook is also necessary.

This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of security management and operational protocols within the OECD framework.
Experience: The position requires a substantial level of experience, specifically eight years in the security field, which can include roles in national or local police forces or private security sectors. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing high-stress situations and emergencies, demonstrating the ability to work autonomously and make prudent decisions under pressure. Experience in carrying a service weapon in a professional context is also a critical requirement.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory, as the role operates within a French-speaking environment, including interactions with local police services and security companies. While English is one of the official languages of the OECD, candidates must have an operational command of French, and knowledge of English will be assessed. Successful candidates will be expected to acquire a good working knowledge of English if not already proficient.
