Job Overview: The Programme Management and Innovation Intern will be part of the Digital Enablement Team (DET) within the Department of Peace Operations (DPO) at the United Nations. This internship is designed to provide practical experience in the field of digital transformation and project management within the context of UN Peacekeeping operations. The intern will work closely with experienced staff members to support the implementation of the Strategy for Digital Transformation of UN Peacekeeping (DTS), which aims to leverage technology to enhance the safety and security of peacekeepers and improve the implementation of UN mandates. The intern will be expected to engage in various tasks that contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of projects, while also gaining insights into the workings of the UN and its peacekeeping efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern's responsibilities will include participating in the development and evaluation of assigned programmes/projects, monitoring and analyzing their progress, and proposing corrective actions when necessary. The intern will also assist in planning and facilitating workshops and interactive sessions, undertake survey initiatives, designdata collection tools, and analyze responses to prepare conclusions. Additionally, the intern will prepare various communications deliverables such as presentations and memos, provide support for meetings and conferences, and maintain centralized repositories of documents and data. Conducting research to support ongoing projects and innovation initiatives will also be a key responsibility, requiring the intern to review industry trends and synthesize findings into actionable insights.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for this internship should have a broad range of educational backgrounds, particularly in areas such as Strategy, Innovation, IT, Engineering, Project Management, or Public Administration. Applicants must meet specific criteria to qualify for the UN Internship Programme, including being enrolled in a graduate school programme, in the final year of a first university degree programme, or having graduated with a relevant university degree. Additionally, candidates should be computer literate, demonstrate a keen interest in the work of the UN, and possess the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this internship includes being a student in the final year of a bachelor's degree programme or higher, or having completed such a programme. The UN seeks candidates who are pursuing or have completed degrees that align with the internship's focus on project management, innovation, or related fields.
