Job Overview:
The consultant will play a crucial role in enhancing the online presence of the United Nations' climate initiatives. This position involves creating new web pages and updating existing ones with content related to significant events such as the Secretary-General's speeches on climate priorities. The consultant will work within the Department of Global Communications, specifically in the Climate Section, which focuses on mobilizing action against climate change. The consultant's work will support the UN's broader communication strategies and will require collaboration with various teams to ensure that the content is engaging, informative, and aligned with the UN's mission.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining websites related to climate action and peace and security campaigns. This includes advising on the organization and layout of the websites, ensuring they are user-friendly and accessible. The consultant will upload content in English, including text, images, and multimedia, and will create new web pages as needed. Additionally, the consultant will track updates for language units to replicate and may take on additional assignments such as research and drafting for the website as required by Project Managers. The role requires a proactive approach to web design and development, ensuring that all content is up-to-date and relevant to the UN's climate initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have a minimum of five years of relevant work experience in web design or development. A first-level university degree is required, demonstrating a foundational understanding of web technologies and design principles. Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory, as all content will be primarily in English. Experience with UN websites or similar international organizations is highly desirable, indicating familiarity with the specific needs and standards of such platforms.

Educational Background:
A first-level university degree is required for this position. This educational background should ideally be in a field related to web design, computer science, information technology, or a related discipline that provides the necessary skills for web development and design.

Experience:
The position requires at least five years of relevant work experience in web design or web development. This experience should include a strong portfolio of previous work, demonstrating the ability to create and manage websites effectively. Familiarity with the UN's operational context or similar international organizations is a plus, as it indicates an understanding of the unique challenges and requirements of such environments.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is required for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the UN for this role.
