The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is the lead UN agency focused on sexual and reproductive health and rights. Established in 1969, UNFPA operates in over 150 countries, with a mission to ensure that every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe, and every young person's potential is fulfilled. The organization is committed to achieving three transformative results: ending preventable maternal deaths, ending unmet needs for family planning, and ending gender-based violence and harmful practices. UNFPA's strategic plan for 2022-2025 emphasizes the importance of addressing the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on women's and girls' access to sexual and reproductive health services, and it calls for a collective effort to build forward better in the face of ongoing challenges.

Job Overview:
The Regional Humanitarian Project Coordinator and SRH in Emergencies Specialist will oversee the DFAT-funded Regional Prepositioning Initiative Phase III (2021-2026), aimed at improving access to quality integrated Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) services for women, girls, and other at-risk groups in disaster-prone countries across Asia and the Pacific. This role involves providing technical and programmatic support to 11 UNFPA Country Offices, preparing reports and workplans for donors, and ensuring effective monitoring and evaluation of the initiative. The position requires a strong background in SRHiE, with a focus on the Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP) for Sexual and Reproductive Health in Crisis Situations, and the ability to develop technical guidance and capacity-building initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Regional Humanitarian Project Coordinator and SRH in Emergencies Specialist include:
  • Programme management, coordination, and implementation of the Regional Prepositioning Initiative, including developing and overseeing workplans, monitoring programmatic aspects, and ensuring alignment with results frameworks.
  • Providing technical and operational guidance to country offices on SRHiE programming, leading capacity-building initiatives, and developing technical guidance documents.
  • Documenting and sharing best practices and lessons learned to inform global and regional policies and programming.
  • Maintaining donor relations and identifying opportunities for new partnerships and projects.
  • Supporting country offices in strengthening advocacy for SRH and GBV in emergencies, particularly regarding disability inclusion and accountability to affected populations.
  • Upholding compliance with UNFPA corporate and donor guidelines and managing audit processes as necessary.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in public health, medicine, gender studies, humanitarian studies, international development, or a related field. They should have a minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience in humanitarian programming, particularly in SRH in Emergencies (SRHiE). Proven expertise in MISP training, capacity building, and SRH-GBV integration in humanitarian contexts is essential. Experience in managing large-scale projects, donor relations, and results-based management is required, along with strong organizational and coordination skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills are necessary, as well as proficiency in knowledge management and resource mobilization.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in fields such as public health, medicine, gender studies, humanitarian studies, international development, or a related area. A working knowledge of another official UN language is desirable, as it can enhance communication and collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
