Job Overview:
The position of Praktikant*in in the Sektorvorhaben Menschenrechte involves supporting the human rights team in advising the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) on implementing a human rights approach in bilateral and multilateral development cooperation. The goal is to integrate human and children's rights standards and principles into all areas of development policy and practice, thereby effectively contributing to the reduction of structural causes of poverty and inequality in partner countries. The intern will be expected to conduct research, prepare relevant information materials, assist in organizing events, and support the team in daily administrative tasks, all while gaining valuable experience in the field of human rights and international cooperation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for supporting the human rights team in various capacities, including: conducting specialized research and commentary, preparing thematic reports and information materials, assisting in the organization and follow-up of both in-person and digital events, analyzing international trends related to human rights, developing informational materials, contributing to project design and implementation, and handling administrative tasks to support the team's daily operations. This role requires a proactive approach and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be enrolled in a Master's program in a relevant field such as law, political science, social sciences, or a comparable discipline related to human rights. Relevant expertise in human rights issues is essential, and prior work experience in this area is advantageous. The ideal candidate should also have experience and enthusiasm for organizing and supporting professional events, a keen interest in international cooperation, and preferably some work experience in developing or emerging countries. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required, along with familiarity with the German political landscape and the workings of German development cooperation. Strong teamwork skills, high flexibility, the ability to work independently, excellent communication skills, and a confident writing style are also necessary.

Educational Background:
The position requires candidates to be at least enrolled in a Master's program in a relevant field, such as law, political science, social sciences, or a similar area that has a connection to human rights. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of human rights issues and the context in which the GIZ operates.

Experience:
Candidates should have some prior experience in the field of human rights, which could include internships, volunteer work, or relevant academic projects. Experience in organizing events and a general understanding of international cooperation, particularly in developing and emerging countries, will be beneficial for this role.

Languages:
