Job Overview:

The NRP was launched in 2023 to enhance the capacities of partner countries in assessing and addressing their climate policy needs. Interns will engage in various activities that support the project's objectives, including research on NDC preparation, participation in meetings, and contributing to knowledge management efforts. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in climate policy and development cooperation, with a focus on enhancing the effectiveness of national climate actions in line with the Paris Agreement.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be involved in a range of tasks that include conducting research on NDC preparation and implementation, supporting internal knowledge management, and assisting with communication activities related to the NDC Partnership. They will also contribute to the development of knowledge products, such as case studies and lessons learned from ongoing country activities. Additionally, interns will help organize and implement peer-to-peer exchanges in partner countries and assist in the preparation and execution of virtual events and country visits with partner organizations. This hands-on experience will provide valuable insights into the operational aspects of climate action initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have a completed bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as political science, environmental science, social sciences, or a related discipline. They should possess prior knowledge of climate policy issues and some initial experience in development cooperation. Strong communication skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to work independently and proactively under pressure are essential. Experience in organizing events, whether virtual or face-to-face, is also required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 is necessary for this role.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is mandatory for this internship. This could include degrees in political science, environmental studies, social sciences, or similar areas that provide a foundation for understanding climate policy and development cooperation.

Experience:
Candidates should have some initial experience in development cooperation and a basic understanding of climate policy issues. Practical experience in event preparation and organization is also beneficial, as it will be directly applicable to the tasks involved in this internship.

Languages:
Fluency in English and German at a C1 or C2 level is required. Additionally, proficiency in other languages, particularly French and Spanish, is considered an advantage, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and contribute to international cooperation efforts.
