Job Overview: The Nurse position at the Migration Health Assessment Centre (MHAC) in Lilongwe, Malawi, is a critical role that involves performing various nursing activities to meet the technical requirements of resettlement countries. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Chief of Mission and the Chief Migration Health Officer, ensuring that all health assessments are conducted in accordance with established protocols. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Nurse include performing daily nursing activities such as conducting medical examinations, collecting samples for laboratory testing, administering vaccinations, managing TB treatment, and ensuring proper documentation of health assessments. The nurse will provide information to migrants about the health assessment process and treatments, maintain accurate records of applicants, and follow established health assessment protocols. Responsibilities also include verifying the transportation of samples to laboratories, managing the MHAC pharmacy and medical supplies, providing counseling on TB and HIV prevention, preparing administrative reports, and supporting mobile missions. The nurse will also assist with pre-departure documentation and perform medical escort duties when necessary, ensuring continuity of care for migrants during their journey. Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Nursing from an accredited institution, with a valid nursing license to practice in Malawi. The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant clinical experience for Bachelor's degree holders and five years for Diploma holders. Candidates should have excellent technical skills, particularly in phlebotomy, and experience in TB management, mass immunizations, and public health is advantageous. Strong knowledge of clinical nursing principles, patient safety, and infection control is essential, along with proficiency in MS Office applications.
