Job Overview:
The Individual Consultant will play a crucial role in developing ICT courses tailored for teachers in low-resource settings in Myanmar. This position is part of UNESCO's Global Partnership for Education - Education Sector Program Implementation Grant (GPE-ESPIG) program, which aims to provide marginalized children with access to quality learning opportunities. The consultant will be responsible for creating six courses at beginner and intermediate levels, focusing on mobile-based teaching, interactive teaching tools, cyber ethics, professional collaborative learning, continuous professional development, and the use of AI in education. The consultant will work closely with the UNESCO education team to ensure that the courses are contextually relevant and aligned with the needs of educators in Myanmar. The role requires a strong understanding of educational content development, course design, and the ability to produce high-quality materials under tight deadlines.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Individual Consultant will undertake a variety of tasks, including:
  • Collaborating with the UNESCO education team to define course objectives and target participants.
  • Reviewing existing courses on the Myanmar Teacher Platform to ensure alignment with new course materials.
  • Conducting research to contextualize course content and ensure relevance.
  • Developing six ICT courses in Standard English, including lectures, presentations, quizzes, and assessments.
  • Revising course materials based on feedback from UNESCO.
  • Drafting video scripts for online courses, ensuring they are concise and informative.
  • Securing intellectual property rights for third-party materials used in course development.
  • Ensuring compliance with UNESCO's gender mainstreaming strategy and guidelines on gender-neutral language.
  • Regularly communicating with UNESCO to provide updates on progress and deliverables.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a degree in education, development, or a related field, along with a minimum of five years of relevant work experience in education and/or teacher training. Experience in course design and content development is essential, as is the ability to produce high-quality content under tight deadlines. Strong planning and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively and flexibly, are also required. Desirable qualifications include a Master's degree in a relevant discipline and familiarity with the Myanmar education context, particularly in teacher education.

Educational Background:
A degree in education, social sciences, development, educational sciences, or a related field is required. A Master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and considered a desirable qualification for this position.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant work experience in the field of education and/or teacher training. Candidates should have a proven track record in course design, content development, and the creation of training manuals, demonstrating their ability to produce high-quality educational materials.

Languages:
The primary language for course development is Standard English, with a requirement for proficiency at a B1 level. While English is mandatory, knowledge of additional languages relevant to the Myanmar context may be considered an asset.

Additional Notes:
This is a non-staff position with a contract duration ranging from 7 to 11 months. The work will be home-based, and no travel is anticipated. The consultant will be expected to submit all deliverables in English, including original, editable files.
