Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Web Maintenance and Digital Content Individual Contractor include:
Maintaining a full backup of the UN Timor-Leste website throughout the contract duration.
Assisting with content updates, including translations for the website in both English and Tetum.
Redesigning landing and other pages of the UN Timor-Leste website as required.
Repairing and fixing errors, bugs, and broken links on the website, ensuring both internal and external links are functional.
Conducting browser compatibility testing to ensure the website functions properly across common browsers.
Updating critical software that the website relies on.
Performing periodic database backups to safeguard website data.
Utilizing Google Analytics to monitor important website metrics and functionality.
Revising website content and uploading new information as necessary. 1
Engaging in audio-visual editing, including web editing, photo editing, graphic design, and creating short social media videos. 1
Completing any other related tasks as assigned by the Head of Office or Head of Communications.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a relevant degree, diploma, or certificate in digital communications, web maintenance, or related fields. Additionally, they should have proven experience of at least three years in web design and maintenance, as well as digital productions, including video production and editing, within the international development context. A strong track record in website design, security, administration, Google Analytics, and Search Engine Optimization is essential. Familiarity with various Content Management Systems (CMS) and a broad knowledge of current web development technologies and design tools are also required. Candidates should be proficient in HTML, XHTML, CSS, XML, Macromedia Flash, and Java, and have excellent knowledge of recent trends in graphic design, websites, video editing, and social media networking. Previous experience working for the UN is considered an asset.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a relevant degree, diploma, or certificate in digital communications, web maintenance, or a related field. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the technical aspects of web design and maintenance, as well as the principles of effective digital communication.
