Job Overview: The position of Praktikant*in is within the Sustainable Agricultural Supply Chains Initiative (SASI) and focuses on the digitalization of agricultural supply chains, particularly in the coffee sector. The intern will support the team in socio-economic sustainability, contributing to strategic processes related to digitalization and coffee. This includes advising the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) on relevant topics, assisting in administrative processes, and actively participating in the development of concepts and strategies. The intern will also engage in research on topics such as AI in agricultural supply chains and support the organization of multi-stakeholder networks and events.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for supporting the BMZ in advising on digitalization and coffee in agricultural supply chains, assisting with administrative processes such as contract initiation with service providers and project partners, and actively participating in the development of concepts and strategies. This includes conducting research on selected topics, preparing materials, and supporting the organization of meetings and events. The intern will also handle daily tasks such as note-taking, presentation preparation, and writing/editing texts and concepts. Additionally, the intern will contribute to knowledge management and collaboration with other projects within the SASI cluster related to coffee and digitalization.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should be studying agricultural sciences, computer science, communication/political/social sciences, geography, or economics, and should be in the final phase of their studies or have graduated within the last six months. They should have gained initial experience in digitalization in agriculture and/or sustainable supply chains through internships or training and wish to apply this in the context of international cooperation. A strong affinity for digital topics and a quick understanding of ICT applications are essential. Knowledge or a strong interest in corporate responsibility, agricultural supply chains, and deforestation-free supply chains is also required.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes being enrolled in a relevant degree program such as agricultural sciences, computer science, social sciences, geography, or economics. Candidates should be in the final stages of their studies or have graduated within the last six months, ensuring they are eligible for the internship.
Experience: Candidates should have some practical experience, ideally through internships or training, in areas related to digitalization in agriculture and sustainable supply chains. This experience will help them apply their knowledge in a practical context within international cooperation projects.
Languages: Fluency in German and/or English is mandatory, and knowledge of Spanish is considered an advantage. This linguistic proficiency is essential for effective communication within the team and with external stakeholders.
Additional Notes: The internship is available for a duration from April 15, 2025, to October 14, 2025, and can be either full-time or part-time. The monthly intern compensation is €2,205.04 (gross). Candidates must be currently enrolled in a program that requires an internship or have graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship.
