Job Overview:
The UNV Project Engineer will work under the direct supervision of the Juba Field Engineer within the Engineering Section of UNMISS. This role involves applying engineering principles and practices to contribute to various projects related to the design, construction, and repair of essential infrastructure such as buildings, roads, bridges, and waste disposal systems. The Project Engineer will be responsible for producing CAD drawings, preparing bills of quantities (BOQ), cost estimates, and technical specifications for engineering projects. Frequent site visits will be required to monitor project activities and provide technical advice. The position also involves conducting technical evaluations of bids, developing technical data for specifications, and analyzing project proposals to ensure feasibility. The Project Engineer will play a vital role in ensuring that engineering projects are executed efficiently and effectively, contributing to the overall mission objectives of UNMISS.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Project Engineer include:
  • Applying engineering calculations and practices to complete portions of larger projects.
  • Producing CAD drawings for planning and design specifications.
  • Preparing BOQ, cost estimates, drawings, Statement of Works (SOW), and technical specifications for engineering projects.
  • Conducting frequent site visits to monitor project activities and provide technical advice.
  • Conducting technical evaluations of bids and preparing evaluation reports.
  • Developing technical data regarding materials, sizes, dimensions, and costs for specifications.
  • Preparing cost estimates for repairs of damaged buildings and facilities.
  • Liaising with other engineers and mission specialists to solve technical problems.
  • Conducting investigations to improve designs and construction techniques. 1
  • Maintaining accurate project records and files. 1
  • Traveling to various locations to plan and monitor road work maintenance and repairs. 1
  • Providing coaching and mentoring to national personnel. 1
  • Performing other duties as requested by the Field Engineer. 1

Required Qualifications:
