Job Overview: The Program Head for Strategy and Partnerships in Landscape Restoration will play a pivotal role in advancing WRI India’s Food, Land and Water program, which focuses on sustainable and resilient food and land use systems. The candidate will be responsible for leading the design and scaling strategy for restoration efforts, which are increasingly recognized in India for their multiple benefits, including food and water security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, biodiversity enhancement, job creation, and climate change mitigation. The role involves engaging with various stakeholders, including government entities, to unlock public finance for restoration initiatives and to develop equitable strategies that address food loss and waste. The candidate will report to the Executive Program Director and will be instrumental in refining the program’s strategy, enhancing partnerships, and driving thought leadership in restoration efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Strengthening strategy and its delivery for restoration implementation (40%): Lead the design and scaling strategy for restoration, focusing on enabling conditions for public capital and reducing barriers in supply chains. Identify knowledge gaps and steer relevant research, authoring knowledge products such as reports and briefs. Design a monitoring strategy for the enabling conditions workstream.
Program Leadership, Strategy and Management (30%): Collaborate with program leadership to develop and refresh the program’s strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Manage project scope and team, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements and monitoring budgets. Mentor interdisciplinary teams and develop operational plans to enhance program delivery.
Partnership and engagement (30%): Network across sectors to engage key stakeholders, develop new partnerships, and represent the organization at external events. Enable strategic communication on restoration initiatives internally and externally.
Required Qualifications: - Master’s degree in environment, restoration, or a related field.
- Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in strategic planning, operations management, and project leadership within the natural resource management and restoration sectors.
- Familiarity with landscape and restoration agendas, public policies, and national and international commitments.
- Proven ability to manage complex programs and cross-functional teams, along with budget management skills.
- Excellent communication, partner management, and donor engagement skills.
- Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.
Educational Background: A Master’s degree in environment, restoration, or a related field is required for this position, ensuring that the candidate has a solid foundation in the principles and practices relevant to landscape restoration and sustainable resource management.
Experience: The candidate must have a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience, demonstrating a strong background in strategic planning, operations management, and project leadership specifically within the natural resource management and restoration sectors. This experience should include managing complex programs and initiatives, as well as leading cross-functional teams.
Languages: Professional fluency in English is mandatory, and fluency in one additional Indian language, such as Hindi, is considered an advantage. This linguistic capability is essential for effective communication with diverse stakeholders and partners.
Additional Notes: The position is based in New Delhi, India, with a contract duration of 2 years, which is extendable based on performance and project requirements. The salary range for this position is between 35,00,000 to 46,50,000 CTC per annum, commensurate with experience and skills.
