UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, is dedicated to building peace, eradicating poverty, and fostering sustainable development through education, the sciences, culture, communication, and information. Established in 1945, UNESCO operates in over 190 countries and has a mission to promote international collaboration in these fields. The organization emphasizes the importance of education and cultural preservation, working closely with governments, civil society, and various partners to achieve its goals. The UNESCO Regional Office for South Asia, located in New Delhi, oversees programs and partnerships across several countries including India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bhutan, Nepal, and Bangladesh. The office's focus is on amplifying the visibility and impact of UNESCO's work in the region, ensuring that its initiatives are effectively communicated and that the organization's brand is well-represented across various platforms.

Job Overview:
The position involves joining a Creative Services Roster as a Video Editor, where selected candidates will be engaged on an 'on-call' basis to provide video editing services for a variety of communications and public engagement activities. The role is crucial for enhancing the visibility of UNESCO's work in South Asia by producing high-quality, platform-optimized video content for social media and other digital formats. Candidates will be responsible for taking raw footage provided by UNESCO and transforming it into engaging videos suitable for platforms like Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook. The position requires a strong understanding of post-production workflows, including editing, color grading, audio mixing, and the integration of graphics and subtitles. The roster will be valid from October 15, 2026, to December 31, 2027, or until further notice, and candidates must be prepared to work remotely, maintaining regular communication with UNESCO throughout their assignments.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Video Editor will be tasked with receiving raw footage and project briefs from UNESCO, producing edited video content tailored for various social media platforms, and ensuring that all visual content adheres to UNESCO's graphic standards. Specific responsibilities include assembling edited sequences according to scripts and storyboards, producing short-form social media content, applying color correction and audio editing, adding subtitles and captions, and ensuring compliance with copyright policies. The editor must also submit first-round edits for review, incorporate feedback, and deliver final files in the required formats. Meeting deadlines and maintaining communication with UNESCO are essential components of this role. Candidates must propose their daily rates for both short-form and longer-form editing tasks, reflecting the full scope of the editing work required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree and/or professional training in film production, video editing, broadcast media, digital communications, or related fields. A demonstrable portfolio showcasing relevant skills and experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications. Proficiency in industry-standard video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro is essential, along with a strong understanding of post-production workflows and social media content production. Familiarity with motion graphics software and experience with subtitle integration are advantageous. Candidates should also be able to manage large media file libraries and work independently under tight deadlines.

Educational Background:
A university degree in film production, video editing, broadcast media, digital communications, or a related field is required. Professional training in these areas is also acceptable. Candidates with a strong portfolio demonstrating relevant experience may be considered even if they do not have formal qualifications. The educational background should ideally include coursework or training that covers both technical skills in video editing and an understanding of digital media production.

Experience:
A minimum of three years of demonstrable professional experience in video editing is required, with a focus on producing content for social media platforms. Experience in institutional or development-sector communications is considered an asset. Candidates should have a proven track record of delivering high-quality video content under tight deadlines and be familiar with the specific needs and expectations of digital media audiences.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both oral and written, is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in local languages relevant to the duty station is considered an asset, as it may enhance communication and understanding of the target audience.

Additional Notes:
The contract is for a duration of 12 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and organizational needs. The position is open to external candidates and allows for remote work, making it accessible to individuals and agencies based anywhere in South Asia. Candidates must clearly indicate their country of residence and the regions within India or South Asia where they are available for assignments. The selection process will involve a technical and financial evaluation, with a focus on the candidates' experience, portfolio quality, and proposed rates. UNESCO emphasizes a commitment to diversity and encourages applications from qualified candidates from under-represented Member States, minority groups, and persons with disabilities.
