Job Overview:
The Safety and Security Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of staff and operations in the field. This role involves assessing risks, developing security plans, and implementing safety protocols to protect personnel and assets. The coordinator will work closely with local authorities, security agencies, and other stakeholders to monitor the security situation and provide timely updates. The position requires a proactive approach to risk management and the ability to respond effectively to emergencies. The coordinator will also be involved in training staff on safety procedures and conducting security assessments to identify vulnerabilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct regular security assessments and risk analysis to identify potential threats to staff and operations.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive security plans and protocols tailored to the specific context of the operation.
  • Monitor the security situation in the area of operation and provide timely updates to management and staff.
  • Liaise with local authorities, security agencies, and other organizations to ensure effective communication and coordination on security matters.
  • Provide training and support to staff on safety and security procedures, including emergency response protocols.
  • Respond to security incidents and emergencies, coordinating with relevant stakeholders to ensure the safety of personnel.
  • Maintain accurate records of security incidents and provide reports to management as required.
  • Participate in security briefings and contribute to the development of organizational security policies and guidelines.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in security management, preferably in a humanitarian or development context.
  • Strong understanding of security protocols and risk management strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in security management, international relations, or a related field is required. A master's degree or relevant certifications in security or risk management is preferred.

Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in safety and security management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role. Experience working in conflict-affected areas is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of Arabic is highly desirable, and proficiency in other languages is a plus.
