Job Overview: The LHIF Director will play a crucial role in leading the organization’s strategic initiatives and overseeing the implementation of programs aimed at alleviating humanitarian crises in Lebanon. This position requires a visionary leader who can navigate complex challenges and foster collaboration among various stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community groups. The Director will be responsible for developing and executing the LHIF’s strategic plan, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission and objectives. The role involves significant engagement with donors and partners to secure funding and resources necessary for program delivery. The Director will also be expected to represent LHIF in high-level meetings and forums, advocating for the needs of vulnerable populations and promoting the organization’s work.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead the strategic planning process for LHIF, ensuring alignment with humanitarian needs and organizational goals.
Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and initiatives aimed at addressing humanitarian crises in Lebanon.
Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including government entities, NGOs, and community organizations, to foster collaboration and resource sharing.
Represent LHIF in external meetings, conferences, and forums, advocating for the organization’s mission and the needs of affected populations.
Develop and maintain partnerships with donors and funding agencies to secure financial support for LHIF’s programs.
Ensure compliance with organizational policies, donor requirements, and legal regulations in all program activities.
Lead and mentor a diverse team of professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Monitor and report on program performance, utilizing data to inform decision-making and strategic adjustments.
Engage in community outreach and advocacy efforts to raise awareness of humanitarian issues and promote LHIF’s work. 1
Manage the organization’s budget and financial resources, ensuring effective allocation and utilization of funds.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience in senior leadership roles within humanitarian organizations or related fields.
Strong understanding of humanitarian principles, practices, and the context of Lebanon’s crises.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Strong communication and advocacy skills, with experience in public speaking and representation.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Commitment to transparency, accountability, and ethical practices in humanitarian work.
Educational Background: A Master’s degree in International Relations, Public Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field is required. A Ph.D. or equivalent advanced degree is preferred, particularly for candidates with a focus on humanitarian studies or development.
Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in humanitarian work, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Experience in program development and management, as well as fundraising and donor relations, is essential. Familiarity with the Lebanese context and previous work in the region is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, with proficiency in Arabic being highly desirable. Knowledge of French or other languages is a plus, as it may enhance communication with diverse stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This is a full-time position based in Beirut, Lebanon. The LHIF Director will be expected to travel within the country as needed. The contract duration is initially for two years, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability.
