Job Overview:
The Logistics Associate position at WFP is crucial for implementing standard logistics and supply chain processes to ensure the effective delivery of goods and services. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the logistics associate, focusing on facilitating smooth communication with headquarters to ensure timely receipt and clearance of international shipments. This role involves tracking shipments from the point of discharge to their final destinations, ensuring compliance with safety standards and customer requirements. The Logistics Associate will play a vital role in coordinating with partners and internal stakeholders, managing logistics vendors, and contributing to budget preparation and monitoring. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Logistics Associate will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
  • Supporting logistics operations and activities, ensuring effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries.
  • Facilitating timely ordering and delivery of commodities and supplies to authorized partners and destinations.
  • Managing logistics vendors’ contracting activities, including performance monitoring.
  • Responding to technical queries and requests for support, ensuring timely and accurate resolution.
  • Contributing to budget preparation and monitoring for all delivery modalities.
  • Assisting in monitoring inventory management processes and tracking trends.
  • Ensuring the quality and integrity of commodity accounting data.
  • Supporting operational pipeline analyses and planning for all delivery modalities.
  • Processing documentation for logistics operations, including customs clearance and invoice verification. 1
  • Collecting and compiling data for reports and ensuring information accuracy in corporate systems. 1
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to support efficient logistics operations. 1
  • Providing guidance to support staff to assist them in completing standard tasks. 1
  • Performing other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Logistics Associate position should possess the following qualifications:
  • Effective communication and coordination abilities, particularly in liaising with transport companies and shipping agents.
  • Solid understanding of logistics and supply chain management, including port operations and cargo handling.
  • Knowledge of customs regulations and the ability to stay informed about new customs rules.
  • Incident management and risk mitigation skills, with the ability to document incidents and escalate issues.
  • Proficiency in corporate systems for dispatch tracking and reporting.
  • Familiarity with emergency preparedness and contingency planning frameworks.
  • Strong data management and reporting skills, particularly in compiling dispatch reports and performance analyses.
  • Technical proficiency in MS Office and Excel for preparing reports and analyzing operational data.

Educational Background:
Candidates should have completed secondary school education, with a post-secondary certificate in a related functional area being desirable. This educational background will provide the foundational knowledge necessary for understanding logistics operations and supply chain management.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in logistics services, preferably in operations and shipping. This experience is crucial for understanding the complexities of logistics management and ensuring the effective delivery of services.

Languages:
Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Arabic is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of French is considered an added advantage, enhancing communication capabilities within a diverse working environment.
